someone told me they use a SPRINT card in their laptop ? It loses the connection when the train passes mountains likea phone would but it comes back. Is there a better way?

Since we're talking train rather than car, a mobile Internet solution is the best one UNLESS some towns along the train route have wireless Internet access that you can hit with your Wireless LAN card. The Sprint card is likely to work the best under those circumstances because the outage will be momentary. Maybe if you're trading stocks before you go to work - that may suck for you but the technology isn't quite there.

If the train had its own wireless access point then you would be in business but the train's AP would have the same line of sight issues as your LAN card.
