At that price, you have so many options! My own leaning is towards Bordeaux, but that's not everyone's taste.

I would suggest the 2002 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from California. Parker gave it 95 points (if you're a Parker fan). It's a consistent performer from an appellation that is often overpriced and overhyped.

It should come in at around $100 US. It should be cellared for at least 5 years or so before enjoying, but then again at that price point, pretty much anything you buy will require some cellaring.

I concur with the Chateau Montelena - could be a great choice.

I also have to say that I don't know that a "cab" would be my choice to spend $100. I'd prefer a nice big Barolo, Pinot Noir, Burgundy (Maybe Bordeaux).

The Silver Oak Alexander Valley is a little over priced, but you won't get a bad bottle of it.

A Caymus could also be a great option.

If you can find it, a 2001, 2002, or 2003 Concha Y Toro Don Melchor would also be great. Retail is well under $100, but it's in such high demand that the price has been driven WAY up.

The J Davies Cab was good last year - but it can be hard to find.

Raymond's Generations line could also be an option https://secure1.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=raymond&BusType=BtoC&Count1=42995631&Count2=960136055

A Beringer Private Reserve could also be tasty. I was surprised at the quality of their upper end wines.

Silver Oak's Napa Valley Cabernet is a great choice for $100.

For $100 you have a huge range to pick from. My current favourite is "Boundaries" cabernet from Rusden (Barossa, Australia). Or another would be "Rifle Range" cabernet, from Rockford, also from Barossa. For early drinking, go for the Rusden.

Wow, one hundred buck cabernet!! Wanna come to my place for dinner?
