How do I deal with a brother and sister in law who seem to hate everything about me?
My mother and father in law, even my husband's grandfather seem to really enjoy my company and even comment how I am probably the best thing to happen to him (heck, even his boss)
but the brother and sister do nothing but disrespect me and say awful things about me, and the only thing done about it is that the grandfather apologizes about 50 times over, but they continue to belittle me..
Short of taking a whooping stick to 'em how do I deal with this?

I should have mentioned before that my hubby is defending me a great deal, but my problem is that neither of us deserve to be treated so poorly. How do I get them to stop?

At this point, it sounds like the important people know what's going on and are treating you in a sane way. That DH stands up for you and that his grandfather is bothered enough to apologize is a good sign. They're seeing the problem and trying to let you know it's not your fault. From this point it makes your BIL and SIL look exceedingly bad the more they disrespect you. How you handle it dictates how you will be seen. If you can aspire to grace under fire you may earn the respect of everyone involved, including eventually the ones in the wrong.

I know exactly what you mean except in my case it's my mother in law and two sister in laws. They act like they like me at times but then they always have to find something wrong with me. Like right now the problem is that they don't like the name I'm giving my daughter so it's become this big thing. I tried to show them how different I could be. I used to call my mother in law everyday to keep her in the loop with my husband and my son, with my sister in laws I opened my home to them. One of them even lives with me now and after doing all this I've learned that theres nothing really to do. I've sat down and spoken with them and done everything that came to mind and it's just one of those things where if they're stuck on their ways nothing you do will change it. Try talking to them and find out what the problem is. If it continues try not to pay any attention to them. People like that enjoy the fact that you're trying so hard to make them like you so if you act like nothing is going on you kinda burst their bubble.

Ignore them!! It is probably what the rest of the family is doing. They probably feel that the family likes you more. They might try to get your goat a little more, but eventually they will get tired of being ignored and start acting nice.
Another thing you could do is kill them with kindness. Each time they say something mean and nasty to you, come up with something nice to say back.

Is the grandfather the only one doing anything? What is your guy doing? It's his family, he should be doing 'the wooping'. If he cares for you then he will tell them to stop it and respect his choice or not come over.

You can tell them off, cuss them out, ignore them. I think your hubby should put them in their place for sure but if he doesnt step up to the plate...by all means ....let them know whats really good.

sounds like they are jealous of your relationship with your husband, probably wish they had such a great lfe, just stay away from them as much as you can, don't let them make you unhappy, you have too much going for you.

Simply ignore them if you can do it. Thats what I do with similar situations. They dont bother me anymore & I sure dont bother them.
