I am a junior in high school and my school system requires all juniors and seniors to compose a senior exit research paper and product. I need help with topic ideas. We can pretty much pick anything we want as long as you can create a product along with it. The topic cant be controversial and it cant be about diseases. I want to do something in medicine, because i am very interested in it. but i wont be able to create a product dealing with this area! Can anyone help pick out some original topics for this project? I have to finish the paper this semester!

oh yeah, the topic must be something that I can make a product out of. since i cant do surgery in the judging room, a lot of things in the medical field probably wouldnt work.

First of all I would challenge the fact that the school can dictate what is and what is not controversial... but anyways...
What about actual physcians, how they save lives and how that can affect them - godcomplexes, depression, remorse, loss of medical license for malpractice, general pressures of their job
Health Insurance, HMO's, what they should or shouldn't cover, how some people who deserve coverage and don't get it (I'm thinking of a movie called "John Q" that's what came to mind when I read that you were interested in medicine)
The history of the medical field, how it started, how it has evolved, who were major in making it evolve, where we are today, how much futher we have to go

Oh you have to make an actual product... wow, that does seem near impossible with the medical field. I don't know what to tell you on this one. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Isn't there a "Senior Exit Project Faculty" ... These can be teachers that are trained and prepared to guide you through your project. Sounds like there's not one, rats!!
The link below is a guideline for doing a project on Cosmetology, they even suggest a product.
I was thinking, since you're interested in the medical field, maybe you could do it on the effects of diet on a diabetic. Or just on diet in general. The product would be H2O - the body is made up of mostly water.
Then I was thinking you could buy two pigs and feed one scraps from the table and the other pig food bought at a store. And your product could be a new food. LOL oh well you got my mind to working today.
