What are some guidelines with regards to international air transportation for large dogs? Would the heat in India be bad for the dog? Are there any other problems that dogs from US would face in India? Please suggest some solutions.

It is going to be ridiculously expensive to ship him (even with you on the flight). You would have to check with the airline to see their rules for shipping large dogs, but I would guess that he would need to be quarantined for at least 14 days once he arrives in India, and then another 14 days when he arrives in the US. He probably would not do well in that climate unless he stays inside in a well air conditioned room. I would recommend boarding him, especially because most places offer a reduced rate if the dog is going to be there for an extended amount of time.

It would be very expensive for sure... Regarding the climate it would depend which part of South India you would be going, Bangalore is the only city in south india which is not Humid, it is sunny but not at all humid, since I am from Bangalore I know the climate. very well. If i am not wrong NY is also very humid in summer months .. I am not too sure how clean would be the boarding place but in comparison with the US I can tell u it would be just average but certainly not bad the dog can survive, you will have to copromise few things if you want your four legged buddy to be with you forever... I am also facing the same transportation prob as I am moving out of India with 2 labradors... I will let u know about rules or laws about international transport f i get something useful.... Hope this will help you.

I have an English mastiff also and I would NOT bring a dog into such a hot humid climate unless it was to be inside with air condtioning. He or she should NOT be outside in that kind of heat for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time and that is pushing it. They are sooo heat sensitive. I cannot answer the other questions but if you go to englishmastiffonline.com they will be able to help you more.. It is a mastiff club I am involved with.....

I agree that it would NOT be very nice for him to have to suffer such heat being a large pooch and not being accustomed to it.
There would be a quarantine time as well. Actually he would probably spend most of the time of your trip in quarantine. So, not really worth it.
I would search around for any family members or friends who could look after him for the month that you will be gone.
If you can't find someone, there is always boarding kennels or you could call your local English Mastiff rescue and explain the situation. I'm sure someone would be willing to help you out.
Good luck!

If you are going to be gone for a month it may be better for him to be boarded by trusted people and even less expensive and less stressful for the dog. The cost of getting him there may be less than the cost of bringing him back and if he will be exposed to the brutal heat and humidity there as only one possible complication, that is something to think about. Not to mention if he would need to be quarantined before returning and for how long.
That's a lot of stress for only a month time away.

Your difficulty will be actually fixed. First a crate for this canine is a ought to!!! He would hate it before each and every thing in view that he's not used to it yet he will actual come across techniques to seem on the crate as his den and it is going to grow to be his maximum gentle position. Being constrained to a room with a gate is purely too a lot area even no matter if it truly is a small room. A canine needs in trouble-free words sufficient room in a crate to tutor round and lay down. in case you confine a canine to a crate even as he's on my own he gained't potty the position he has to sleep. hence he gained't pass even as he's on my own. make efficient he is going potty precise previously you position him in the crate and once he's enable out of the crate the first element he does is pass immediately outdoors to potty. yet another element you opt for to be doing is in trouble-free words feed him a managed quantity 3 or 4 circumstances an afternoon. After he has eaten what he needs p.c.. up the food and take him out to potty about a million/2 an hour after he has eaten. also a Mastiff lives to devour so a small manage after he has finished solid and pottied outdoors will pass a lengthy way. also Mastiff's are very unswerving so plenty and far of praise even as he does solid and potties outdoors is obligatory. they're smart canine attempt this stuff CONSISTANTLY and he receives in very few weeks, I promise!
