No! Cooking with beer is just like cooking with wine - wonderful flavor. Just save some to drink with the finished product.

No it's not! The beer tenderises the meat and gives a very good taste. Obviously you dont put it all in, you can put half in and drimk the rest! Also red wine works wonders with al red meats, just a dash!!

Absolutely not! Cooking with a good ale or wine is actually quite smart. It imparts awesome flavor and tenderizing.
If the beer is not up to it, drink it!

is the ale off?
if so, sling it.
you cannot make a good dish from poor ingredients.
if it's good but you just don'ty like it, put it in a beef stew/casserole as some of the liquid. it will make it tasty. You must've heard of steak & ale pie? Beef & boddingtons?
enjoy!
failing that, stale beer make good slug traps!
get a jam jar, put beer in it, only up to 1/4 way.
dig small hole big & deep enough for jam jar to sit in so top of jar is level with ground.
put a stone/pebble either side of buried jar, lay a roof tile/ piece of bark on stones to create a roof & protect jar from rain.
Slugs love smell of beer & fall in & drown!
Removing & disposing of drunk/pickled slugs isn't so nice though. :0S
beer batter for fish is really good. light and bubbly, use beer in place of water/milk.

Can??
Decent beer doesn't come in a can.
If it's canned beer use it up cooking or for trapping slugs.
Decent beer is out of a bottle or on draught.
Cheers.

Not at all - a great ale can work really well. I would not even consider using a larger or any other poor brew in my cooking. I guess it comes down to personal preference.

As a qualified chef I have a famous saying. Don`t cook with it if you are not prepared to drink it.
