So I just got a 99 durango in oct. and the other day a girl turned left in a right turn only intersection right in front of me as I was going thru the green light. No one went to the hospital but the front of my car is totally smashed. I just found out my landlord is selling my home and the company I work for is closing. I NEED my car to find work, a new home and move? What am i supposed to do? Can I ask for more money besides what the cost of damage to my car for the inconvience this has put on me? How can I get the best settlement? And all you bleeding hearts out there can spare the bs about of how you think I'm wrong for seeking money for an accident. This was the last thing I needed and I think I should be compensated.

If your vehicle is being repaired, you have the right to request "diminished value compensation" from the at-fault driver's insurance. This additional payment makes up for the loss of value associated with a vehicle involved in a wreck as compared with one that isn't.

Of course they won't offer it to you; you have to ask.

if you are age 14, you cannot settle with your insurance company since you are a minor. the insurance company will settle with your parents and depending on state law, it may have to have it approved by a court. the settlement will most likely be put into a trust till you are age 18 or 21. this is to protect you. years ago, they did not do that. my husband, a lawyer had a serious injury of a baby about 20 or more years ago. the settlement was $350,000. the parents immediately showed up the next day in a new car. by the time the child was 18, there was no money left; the parents spent it all. the child was/is in a wheelchair for the rest of their life and cannot function on her own without help. that happened a lot back then, so most states have set up trusts to protect the child. any money taken has to be approved; ie; medical bills to be paid; good luck

You deserve to get your car fixed and that is it. You are not injured. You should be able to get a loner while your car is getting fixed. As to getting more, don't even try. It is called fraud and you can and will be prosecuted. You are a perfect example of why we all have to pay more in insurance fees. You want something more than you are entitled to and that is just wrong. And for the record, I am not a bleeding heart. I just don't like to see people trying to milk the system for more than what they deserve.

I do believe you are entitled to the cost of the repairs or the value of the car as well as the cost of renting a car until yours is repaired or resonable time to get anew car.

Wow... .let me tell you how much i love people in the world who want to "PUNISH" the at fault party and somehow feel that if they get money for themselves b/c of "inconvenience" that its the right thing to do.

Ill tell you what.. im gonna start charging grocery stores inconvenience when i have to wait in line to pay.. lets see.. who else can i get money from.. HELLO. THIS IS LIFE. You dont deserve money b/c something bad happened.

to answer your questions. no. you will get whatever it cost to repair your vehicle or the value of the vehicle- whichever is cheaper. and you will be in a rental while they repair it once they accept liability.

I sware.. what goes around comes around. selfish people have it coming for them.
