kung fu should demonstrate their art in tournements rather then talking about how great the art is, and i have had enough of the excuse that the use eye and throat attack because any one can use those and doesnt give u an advantge. i rate kung fu as a dance so when idf ever is someone gonna have the balls to enter mma and show us the are better kung fu guys then jason delucia and that coward emin boztepe in the world. the gracies might not be the best fighters in the world but at tleast they represent there art and never give up

Kung fu dosent have to prove itself, it already has. You ask this question, because you are threatened and you feel like if you beat up a kung fu student you r style should get the recognition kung fu has. It wont. plus if kung fu sucks so bad why has it been around for about a thousand years or so. whats the average life of a human? anyway nature has a way of getting rid of what useful and whats useless.

Simple question, simple answer

Its all about time my friend.

How long as UFC, Pride, blah blah blah etc been around for? A couple of years?

How long as kung fu been around for? Hmmm let me think. Oh yes i remember now about 1000 years or so.

What is the foundation of all martial arts. Oh I remember that one too it was a bloke called Burhidarma who incorporated breathing and exercise into a routine which was later turned into kung fu.

Very disrespectful to say that the foundation of all martial arts is bad!

If something has been around for over a thousand years i think its been proved to work.

Don't be fooled by these shows. They don't prove what the best style is. All they prove is that if you are a big bloke you can beat people up. A fact that most people already know.

What's more important a large big trophy or your original front teeth? I think the real question should be why do men fight and when should you fight? Certainly not for entertainment or money that's for sure. Martial Sport or Martial Art the choice is yours.

I don't practise kung fu but consider myself to be a mature student and stopped watching this sort of rubbish years ago.

Ego, money and politics the worst combination for any martial artist.

regards

idai

I've been iritated by this as well. I'm a kung fu praticioner along with muy thai and jujitsu and I know its a good style (especialy eagle claw) . But heres the problem with most practicioners. You see there are 2 different kung fu's . There is modern kung fu ,which the shaolin monks created because the government made them as a form of entertainment, then there is traditional kung fu which is a good style and was designed for military use as alot of the monks helped train the chinese soldiers. But the government of china didn't trust the shaolin monks for some reason (my knowledge of this story is a little rusty) so they burnt it as the shaolin monks slept and most of them died. A few hundred escape escaped most of them the masters of their style. Several survived and were killed because they refused to obey the wishes of the emperor and the ones that lived are the ones that created this modern day basterdization of kung fu. It is very hard these days to learn real kung fu as a result of this as people are more interested in looking really cool than fighting for real.

I am training really hard and hoping that one day I can enter MMA competitions to bring honor back to my art . So if I make it far you may see me. My fighting name would also be The Wall (its a long story) I'm representing Eagle Claw, Tiger Claw, Monkey Kung Fu, Drunken Kung Fu, Muy Thai , and Jujitsu.

O ya and just so you know kung fu has alot of grappling counters and stuff that arent alowed because they are considered "clawing" and this inability to use them is crippling

I always apppreciate critiscism... however before you start criticising (excuse my bad english...) I think you have to do your homework !
First of all Kung-Fu is a southern Chinese dialect to regroup the diiferent Chinese martial arts (Which are over 500 diiferent styles).. so if you´re complaining I think you should be a little bit more specific... (If I would complain about Japanese Budo, I would at least say if I meant Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Nin Jitsu, Ken Do, Iai Do, AikiDo, Etc...)
Second of all, I think you are attacking the wrong people, should you really say Kung-Fu sucks, because Emin Botztepe irritates you ?... I mean, I also don´t like Wing Chun Kung-Fu ...not because I think that it´s bad, but because I don´t like the style... (I like it to be more spectacular, realistic or not (probably a lot less realistic...), I just like the training, the feeling, and when we fight it´s tough enough for me... !!!)

My conclusion is, as I´ve seen on many all style tournaments, I think every style has got it good and its bad sides to it, and every style has got its good fighters and stylists, as well as its bad ones...

However, what I think you´re doing is like looking at Jean Claude Van Dammes movie the Kickboxer, and than say : Muay Thai Sucks....

With all respect, and I´m looking forward to a challenging answer !!! :)

One must remember that with Kung-fu, it is a self defence art and not just a "use-whenever" sport. Yes i agree with you that alot of Kung-fu practitioners sort of brag, if you will and yes they should tone it down as they are taught to do so. But at the same time alot of the strikes and moves are rather harmful if not deadly. So perhaps its a good thing they talk about it rather than show it.

My Sig .40 can blow your face off.... do you want me to test it on you so we can see? How about you take my word for it.

Kung fu is proud of its past.... whats wrong with that. Are the moves practical, yes! are some not so practical? Of course! Its 6 of one half dozen of another.... don't worry so much about things like that. I can see that you are a GJJ nut ridder so I wont even get into the fact that grapple arts have just as many weaknesses as striking arts.... its all about cross training for me.

Whats wrong with someone having pride though? grow up.

EDIT: to your email... a Sig .40 is a gun....
