if the splinter is not too big, to make a dressing, a bit of material, put LOTS of soap on it and then coat it with sugar, apply that and guaranteed that will be at the surface tomorrow morning.

It is best to remove a splinter as soon as you can to avoid infection. Although many remedies suggest keeping the skin moist to draw the splinter out - many times these remedies increase the likelihood of infection. To get the splinter out - simply increase the opening of your skin with a sterilized needle (sterilization can be accomplished by boiling for five minutes, or holding in an open flame for a few seconds). Once you have made the opening slightly larger - get a pair of tweezers and try to pull the splinter out in the opposite direction that it went in. To minimize pain - I would suggest using ice or a topical anesthetic.

Soak it in a bowl of antiseptic and make the skin really soft sterilise a needle or a pin and pick away at the soft skin but watch in case you push it in deeper.my mum used to make a thing called a poltis it was bread washing powder and a little water and make it into a paste put it on the effected area cover for a night and you could pick the splinter out next morning. or go to the hospital where they are qualified to do these type of thing.

Use a clean needle and squeeze. You could numb it but I find it's not that painful if you go in along the line of the splinter.

If you don't want t o mss up your thumb by mining for the sliver with a needle, soak your thumb in very hot water, as hot as you can stand it, eventually it will come out.
