I think it's fine. I mix and match shampoo and conditioner all the time and it's never hurt my hair. I now prefer a two-in-one, but sometimes I just stick with shampoo without conditioner.

I totally understand the being broke but wanting my hair to look and feel nice. I've definitely bought nice shampoo and a completely different cheap conditioner and had them work fine together.

all shampoo's and conditioners are pretty much all made the same way. if you really read what is inside of them, there is not much difference.
the reason that most manufacturers recommended for you to bu both their shampoo and conditioner is because they basically will work in combinations with each other for you to get the best results of the product.
but does not necessaily means that you can use only one or the other .
i recently started using herbal shampoos for my hair for several reasons and really enjoy them. unforntunely their conditioners are outrageously expensive, so i stick with my normal conditioners,. just used it once in a while since i am not suppose to used very often (i have extremely oily hair so why add additional oils to it).

I use drugstore brands the only real difference I notice is the Salon is the scent the pricier ones seem to smell better. I would rather spend my money elsewhere I guess. I say get you a cheap conditioner I doubt you will notice a huge difference.

No, you don't have to use the same shampoo and conditioner. Use what ever you want. I don't think it matters. I think we are made to think that they have to match but they don't.

thats an awkward question. Whne you was your hair you want to wash twice. once to clean the hair and once for the scalp. so it doesnt matter but you also want to use the right one for your hair like cleansing or non specific. depends on your needs.
