All right, I've had my braces for 4 months now. When I first got them, they hurt like hell.... it hurt to eat cupcakes for about a month. I just got my teeth tightened yesterday, and they hurt a lot. I took Tylenol/Moltrin/Advil, but it doesn't help, plus, I banged my newly throbbing teeth on a cup. They hurt soooo much. Does anyone have ANY suggestions other than commercial, artificial medicine that doesn't do anything? I'll take any answers but please, help! I'm in pain here!

Drink really really really cold water and suck on some ice cubes. Or wet down a wash cloth and stick it in the freezer. Wait until it is frozen and then suck on that. (make sure it was a clean washcloth though)...

I hope your mouth feels better!!

I found baby Ambesol works because it is really your gums that are hurting as your teeth are being repositioned. It comes in both a liquid and a gel. I rub it on before I go in for an adjustment and every time my teeth hurt. You can also use the spray on Chloraseptic for sore throats, but not as many times a day as you can apply baby Ambesol.

Try using Baby Orajel. Rub it on the gums, it should numb the pain.
