when my two cats are waiting for their food, they slap one another. they sit on the windowsill and hit each other in the face with their paws.i wonder why do they do that? is it for attention from me cos they stop when i shout at them, they are sisters from the same litter./otherwise they seem to get along just fine and dont fight.

Food time just brings out the wild in a lot of animals. Seems pretty normal to me. I'd probably smack somebody if I thought they were going to take my lunch.

My newest kitten does this to the other cats. He is still new to the house and is fighting for his food. For some reason they sometimes think if they don't get it right sway there will b no more. I am sure it comes from when they were kittens. It should stop after awhile, but is not really hurting either of them. They could just be playing too, and give you a show. Cats are funny like that!

If this is just happening around the time you are going to feed them it's most likely an indication of the cats trying to establish an "alpha" position over each other.
Food triggers a very deep instinct in cats -- more so than many other stimuli. Because they are siblings the urge to establish an alpha position (one more dominate than the other) may not be as strong, but emerges when the food is out.
I'd physically seperate them -- remove on from the window ledge -- before you go to feed them. This should help.
The other deep instinct we see displayed in our household felines is the hunting / stalking urge. This can me done with everything from a loose fly into the house to a sock on the floor!
Hope this helps. --Andy

I feed some ferals that do the same thing. When I am putting the little piles of food down, they will hit each other on top of the head. It seems they are worried about sharing food. Also, I have noticed the mom cat does this the most to her children.

Hm, this could be their natural way of "fighting for survival". When they know food is about to arrive, as of their daily routine, they will squabble to decide who gets to the food first and who gets the most. This is your basic, classic example of early sibling rivalry and should be nothing to worry about unless the fighting becomes vicious. In which case, go see your Veterinary clinic who can refer you to a specialist on the subject of animal behaviour.

Ours do that too - they are not littermates, but we got them as kittens from the shelter the same day. They're still trying to work out who's the alpha cat in your house. They may settle this, they may not. As long as they don't hurt each other, they will be fine.

The media blamed Bush for the elements, and for each thing else. i'm particular Obama heavily isn't blamed for something - inspite of if his administration is responsible. case in point, the levee gadget is a FEDERAL duty, so any down-grading of the submit-Katrina reconstruction is a FEDERAL determination - specially by technique of the Obama administration.

I have two cats. The younger one always picks on the older one. They get over it. The younger one usually wants to play and the older one doesn't want to have any part of it.
