If you are using Vista the ports that limewire and other p2p file sharing programs use, aka gnutella ports are blocked in Vista.
There is a security update for XP that also blocks the ports.
This is Microsoft putting a stop to file sharing.
Linux or Mac is your only alternatives.

Hi this happend to me and i cheak my firewall and it still wasnt working. I found out it had nothing to do with the fire wall, but i didnt know everytime you click on Limewire when you close your computer down it stays on. And everytime i was trying to go on Limewire i kept opening a new one and it kep saying what yours is saying. It wasnt until i noticed down on the right side of the screen by the clock that i had more than one of the Limewire worlds down there. So i closed 2 of them and now the Limewire is working fine and i havent had any problems since.
I think if you have more than one open the connection gets weakend until you shut one down.
I know you can turn it of so it doesnt automacticall come one when you turn on your computer but then you will have to click on the shortcut. But in furture when you want to go on Limewire go to the tool bar by the clock on the bottom on the screen and see if its there. If it is click on it and i will resume what you where downloading and the signal strength should be high.

Hey there,
Here you can find a good place where to download Limewire: http://j.mp/VMetBb
Limewire is good software i still use it to this day. I really like Limewire, I'm actually an avid user of it. If I want to download a music file I use Limewire always. If you are looking for a good peer to peer software to download music, softwares/programs and videos you should get limewire too.
It's a safe and reliable pogram but like all peer to peer program you have to be careful of what you are donwloading from it. It does not matter what P2P program you use, you always have to be cautious about what you download.
Don't use torrents/downloads from other sites, they might be backdoored.
I love it!
I hope it helps

used limewire myself and after it wrecked my last 2 pc's I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, free downloads from open file sharing comes at a price and mine worked up about £1,000...so ways up the pro's and con's and I would say never connect to it and your anti-virus is stopping it!...you turn ya anti virus off and then you will connect and you will receive everyine else's viruses etc.
