What do I buy my niece for her first communion. She is about 7. I think they are catholics ( as you might have guessed, I'm not very religious, but it will be a great party afterwards).

Get her a pretty necklace with a crucifix on it. Or a locket.

Think along the lines of keepsake, heirloom. Something she'll keep forever.

Now, it's possible my suggestion of a Rosary has already been grabbed, and although a Rosary is very powerful in prayer assistance; 15 of them won't cut it.

You could assist is purchase of her communion dress, or as is custom in some families to use material of sentimental value (wedding dress or part of your niece's baptismal dress) and create that.

Or, get a gift certificate for her. http://www.giftcertificates.com/merchant/prod.cfm?merchant_id=38

The above link is a more universal gift certificate service and they really are terrific. The link I sent was for Fortuna, fun place to shop and online too as well now.

If worse comes to worst; just give a gift of money, 25 bucks is more than appropriate.

Have fun, enjoy your family and thanks for being such a great aunt and being so thoughtful.
