wrong, wrong and wrong...even from an RN and one HCV+ person...I cannot believe what I am reading!!
the honest to God truth is-hcv can last a long long time after it has dried-that is if moisture is reintroduced, it poses no real risk factor. but again, hcv can reconstitute, so if you were to cut yourself open on an object that had even unseen-to the naked eye and this dried particle entered your blood stream, you can get infected.
as for hcv as a whole?
most new infections are from those that share drugs-snorting, shooting.....
as for hcv being a sexually tranmitted disease? this is only possible if blood to blood transmission occured during intercourse. hcv is not a true STD, if that were the case, thered of been several people infected with HCV that I have had sex with.
Both of my teens are HCV free as well.
hcv is blood to blood only. hcv corpuscles found in semen, vaginal fluid, saliva, tears and mucus are NOT transferrable and are not infectious.
good luck!

Hepatitis C is not spread by casual or airborn contact. It can be sexually transmitted, but most frequently is acquired through IV drug abuse. It used to be transmitted by transfusion.
