I already have my lip pierced on both sides (snake bites) and my ears gauged to a 2(which isn't that big) anyways, my mom is getting a tattoo and she asked me if I would like to get one too, I am thinking of getting something like the clandestine bat http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n226/prosthetic_head_01/Fall%20Out%20Boy/Heartbat.jpg , a hello kitty face or this http://c.myspace.com/Groups/00019/09/65/19085690_m.jpg
on my wrist. What do you think about this?

I know you've had A LOT of people answer this question but i'm going to try to look at it from your view point. You're young, you're view points and opinions are going to change SO MUCH in just 6 months....I'm almost 18 and i've always wanted a tattoo however my ideas and what i want and where i want it have changed so many times over just a few months...just the fact that you have to ask people you don't even know should be a sure sign that you're not ready to get one. Why the rush? It will be on your body for the rest of your life, don't do something on a whim. Get something you will not be ashamded of your employer seeing. Remember that one day you will have to have a job, and most jobs would rather hire someone without a VISIBLE tattoo who might not be THAT GREAT of a worker over someone with a VISIABLE tattoo...so just think about it A LOT, if you still wnat the same tattoo in a year then i say go for it.....

My own opinion the hello kitty one is NOT A GOOD IDEA, you will matture and you'll regret it. I'm not trying to be mean or totally talk to you out of it but remember it will be there FOREVER, so DON'T RUSH, think about when your 30 will you really want a Hello Kitty tattoo? When your at work do you want someone who is looking to hire you to see this big clandsetine bat on your wrist?

That's really awesome that you and your mom are that close. Personally, if I were you, I'd wait until I knew I really wanted one for sure. At 15 or 16, it's trendy to get one, but you may or may not like it once you're older. If it's killing you that you just want to go ahead and get one, try something very small on your back. This way, if you end up not liking it or wishing you hadn't gotten it, it can be removed by laser fairly easily. Even still, I'd recommend you wait. I ended up getting TWO (2) when I was 15....both were homemade....and at the time, I thought they were the coolest thing. Since then, (now 29), I've grown up and BOTH of them have been covered. (Cheapest alternative) I have, however, gotten quite a few more...simply because I love tattoos. Be careful if you choose to move ahead. What you see might not be exactly what you get.....

Tattoo's are a very beautful thing and a very nice thing to have. But your almost 16 and I'm only a few years older than you 19. At this point in your life you prolly have no idea what you want to do with your life right? Well unless you know 100 percent and know a job won't care about a visable tattoo I would suggest do it somewere other than the wrist. Your prolly will start looking for jobs soon and its going to be hard to get one with that tattoo you know? But if you know for sure you'd only want those tats on your wrist and no were else find a diffrent tattoo and put it like on your shoulder. Till you have a career in place and now you'll always be there avoid tattoo's that are hard to hide but thats just my advice in the end its up to you! Any questions feel free to e-mail me I don't judge :)

Don't get tattooed. The results of research performed by Dr. Bob Haley and Dr. Paul Fischer of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School shows that getting body tattoos at parlors may well be the "number one distributor of Hepatitis C." The doctors found that getting tattoos at an establishment "accounted for more than twice as many Hepatitis C infections as injection-drug use." The research also shows that people who get a body tattoo in a parlor are "nine times more likely to get Hepatitis C" because of infected needles and unsanitary conditions. This is the reason that people who get a body tattoo aren't allowed to donate blood to the American Red Cross for an entire year. Medical experts recommend that anyone who gets a tattoo get tested for Hepatitis shortly afterwards.

It depends on a few different things if you were my kid. How long have you wanted a tattoo? Do you have in mind what you want already? What will it look like? How mature are you? Where did you want to get it at? I'm taking my step son for his first tattoo on March 5th, he will be turning 15 Feb 29th. He is getting a cross, has wanted it for 2yrs. Getting it on his shoulder. He is very mature for his age. This was not a snap decision for his father and I. I would recommend that if you are not really sure about all of those things, then maybe you should wait awhile. You can always get one at a later date.

The reason why most people say to wait til at least you're 18 is cuz if you get a tattoo when your young, you will most likely get a "trendy" one. Like the Hello Kitty one for example. Do you think you'll still like it when your 25 and going to a job interview or something. You should wait. What's the rush?? At least with your piercings, you can always take them off when they get out of style. With a tattoo, you can rub it off when your tired of looking at it.

Is it even legal for you to get a tattoo at this age? Did you post your age with the question to get a rise out of people who think that teenagers shouldn't get tattoos? Don't you know that those people are doing just fine at complaining and being outraged and righteously indignant without any help from you? I don't understand why shocking people is so appealing to teenagers. It hasn't been too terribly long since I was one myself, but maybe I've forgotten what it was like. I like the bat.

I forgot to mention, to the people who say that a tattoo will look ugly when you get old: how many of you think you won't be ugly when you get old anyway?

well it seems liek it would fit you for who you are now... do you like hello kitty? LOVE IT? will you LOVE it and that bat (it looks neat by the way but i wouldnt want it tattooed on!) but you have to think in the long run.. 10 years old. having a bat on you lol anyways///liek i said it seems liek for who you are now. im sure by 40 you will have tyour snake ites otu adn hopefully your ears would be normal cause everyone grows out of those stages as they mature.. i have! im 19 though... but if you really want those you soudl get it where you can hide that. but also mst places wont tattoo you... since you are so young. even if your mom is there you may need to wait till you are 18. plenty of time to think abotu these items you want on you. i would get a tatto wiht meaning ersonally..i have been thinking of a rose with a laybug on it.. a red rose cause its my grandmas favorite and it is my birth flower and the lady bug for love of ildlife and good luck... i would get something with meaning if i were you... not to get somethign spur the moment cause your mom asked you...

but i wanted a tatoo when i was your age.. my friend got one done at a shady shop and when she showed it to me it looked like CRAP! lol a butterfly in the lower back! looked like 3 year old drew it! but i wanted this nice tribal design. i thougth abotu t and glad i NEVER got it! thank goodness!

Piercings are one thing, but a tattoo at 15/16 might not be the best thing. If I were allowed to get tattoo at that age, I would HATE my skin today. I think that if you aren't even sure, you should just wait anyway. There is no need to rush into getting a tattoo.

Just wait.

I would probably wait until you're at least done growing...most places will not tattoo you until you're 18...some places will tattoo at 16 with parental consent. What's the rush though? I would maybe wait until you know for sure that's what you want and it has meaning to you. Also, since you're only 15, you're prob going to grow more. You don't want your tattoo to get distorted when you grow and it doesn't.
