You don't need to persuade a young child to eat regularly. So long as the foo d is there, he will eat if he is hungry. Nature's way of protecting them. Only way they will starve is if the food is not available.

The best way, is to keep a steady meal time....and offer food....kids will eat when they are hungry......As long as you provide food they will eat. If they are not hungry then they won't. They trick is to stay consistant.....for example....my son will eat at roughly 7:30, noon, and around 6:00. With a healthy snack around 2:30 or three.....He has days where he may only take 5 bites a meal....and the next he will eat 2 helpings.....as I said....he will ear when hungry, he will not when hes not.....

I tend to believe that you offer a child healthy options, but you never force them to eat.
Obesity is such a problem in our society. Over time, we've learned to ignore our body's signals of when to eat and when to stop. Young children haven't overridden that instinct yet.
My son has very erratic eating habits. For a long time, he'd eat almost nothing for 2-3 days, then he'd pig out all day long. Lately he's getting a little more regular. I give him healthy choices, but I never force him to eat anything, and I am never going to tell him he has to clear his plate, either.
But that's me. I'm a little weird.

Simple answer: you don't.
Not eating and pickiness with food is most often a control issue. Don't make a bog deal out of it, just keep offering nutritious foods. The child will eat when s/he is hungry. They won't starve.
Supplement with liquid vitamins. Enfamil Poly-vi-sol is a very good one that my pediatrician recommended.

children go through phases of eating well and not hardly at all. Give it some time, use diet supplements like vitamins or ensure drinks. If it persists over a few weeks see the doc.

by offering food regularly.
Kids will eat when they are hungry. If you let them eat when they come home from school that is when they will eat. Then at dinner, they are not hungry and you cannot get them to eat.
Figure out when you want your child to eat, and offer them food at that time. They will then eat the food.

Don't try to force food on your child--give them lots of choices and varieties of foods at mealtimes but never force it--Our society/culture is dealing with obesity in such a huge proportion--it is not even funny-let kids have their own natural rhythms--let them listen to their bodies and eat when they are hungry--Otherwise they will just get used to automatically shoveling food into thier stomachs--people should eat when they are hungry...again--provide lots of variety of healthy foods at meal times and at snack times--and let your child make his/her own choices...

My nephew was such a picky eater, and he would barely eat. My sister took him to the doctor and her doctor said that as long as he is not loosing weight and when he does eat, it is nutritious meals, not worry.
Good luck.
