Cats and dogs are sexually mature by 4 months old. If your cat is not neutered then he definitely CAN and probably WILL get your female cat pregnant (if she is also not spayed). Best way to avoid a situation like this is to get cats spayed/neutered at 8 weeks (they recover much faster and it's less traumatic).

I an a former vet tech and wouldn't have thought he would be mature enough to be interested. The fact that he is makes me wonder if his hormones are ahead of schedule. I would not rush out and castrate him though until he's a little older. Your female won't show signs of pregnancy for a while. You can still have her spayed now to be sure she doesn't produce a litter. If you wait until she shows signs, she can still be spayed, but a vet will probably charge more as the pregnancy progresses. Vets now can spay a cat at 6 WEEKS of age not the old 6 months. The surgery is confined to a very tiny incision that in minimally invasive. There may be a low cost spay and neuter service available in your area. Some don't keep the cat overnight. Check with the local animal control agency in your area or the humane society. You may also be able to get low cost shots from those sources. In my area there is a mobile "clinic" that sets up at different locations with a truck to do the shots. They publish a schedule and distribute it to pet stores. Try searching on-line. Good luck.

Yes. Animals come into puberty around six months old. That is why if you are going to have them neutered or spayed you need to do it before then. Once a male starts marking his "spot or territory" (something they do once they mature), you are stuck. They will mark your house. After six months a female will start her typical way of attracting males; rolling around, a distinct cry and other behaviors. The funny thing is once they go through this change, even if they are fixed, they will periodically reflect the behaviors... glands or not. Good luck. Hope you can find the babies a good home.

Yes, if she is not spayed.
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.

STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^
