How many believe all that stuff on websites about visions and prophecies indicating the end of the world is roughly 2012?

What do you think will happen, and why? Will we make it? Will we perish?

The end of the world was predicted in 2000 now they have moved it up a few years what will be the next prediction after two thousand and twelve. I believe as every year is predicted to be the end of the world some day someone will get it right.

I don't know if I believe that the 'end of the world' means everyone and everything will die or if it means that things as we know it will change thus feeling like it's the end of the world. I think Im going with things changing so much that we will live in a different world than we grew up in. For example, like say...all the computers went down...everything that has to do with a computer is no longer useful, that would change the world as we know it, don't you think? Or say we go into another depression. With the war, anything is possible and I believe change is right around the corner. After winning 2 world wars, what are the chances of us winning the third?

End of the world is relative. And has little to do with religion.

The Romans I'll bet thought it was the end of the world when thier Empire collapsed. The Aztecs I'm sure mark thier calenders with a D-Day when the Spaniards massacred all thier nobility at a religious ceremony. Or maybe it was when thier king was burnt for being a heretic and ended thier gov't. (How you become a heretic when you aren't even Xian I'll never know...) When the giant ancient cities off India and Japan were sunken over 10 thousand years ago, it may have sparked some of our Flood and End of the World myths. It certainly shattered thier cultures and made them only vague legends.

This culture is about to die. From those who study anthro and the rise and fall of civiliations, to petroleum engineers who know how much oil we have left, to climatologists who have been screaming warnings for decades, to economists who have declared the Western model of capitalism as an abismal failure, to social scientists who warn of class against class struggle, and military intervention in every part of the world.

Peak Oil is near. The American debt is too high to ever pay off. The deficit in too many countries in bankrupting them. There are too many ppl starving, thristing, and crushed under the grinding poverty of having thier stuff apporpriated by a few companies and countries. The climate threatens to destroy us all.

We live in an absolutely unique time in world history. We can now use our resourses to link every single human being on the planet. We would have no more need for representive gov't of any form. We could allocate our resouse use for the benifit of all, and not the corperations. And we could herald a new age of global enlightenment with information and enpowerment for all.

Or we will completely collapse with no transportation, no mass food production, no advanced tech, no pharaceticals, with our nieghbours at our throats to take our limited resourses, and military might as the only option against chaos. The edge of the greatest fall to a Dark Age the world has ever seen is apon us. I think that quailifies for "End of the World" status...

We are in fact the generation we have been waiting for. Very rarely the ppl who cry the End of the World really are right. And this is one of those times. Unless we completely change our way of thinking, and consider how to keep humans surviving well on this planet, it really will be the end of the world. Everywhere. Except maybe a very few places will manage to support humans that won't have thier climate change badly enough to destroy thier whole lifestyle, and they haven't lost the traditional methods of living there... Hmmm... Austrailian aboriginals, perhaps? The Arctic and Inuit lifestyle is already toast... And the Brasilian rainforest... Boreo, maybe?

Believe only what is written in the Bible concerning the end times. There are alot of wild speculations out there, and those individuals least mature in the knowledge and life in the Christian faith will fall for these stories.

The Bible does record that Jesus said that no man knows the day nor the hour of His coming...therefore, since even that is hidden from our knowing, what can we know except those things which we have been told?

i got a free book online a while back called "the end time."

in this book it says (i don't believe this but it would be cool) that two large empires will unite in war...one being like, russia, and some other part of europe or maybe it was asia...i don't remember. anyway, it says during the middle of this war, jesus christ is going to come out of the sky riding a white horse with his chosen 144,000 and everyone everywhere will be able to see him. then he will annhilate (sp?) both parties. at that time everyone will have to choose whether to go with him or not. if you choose to live in the kingdom of God (here on earth) you will have eternal life. but it's not that easy. not everyone will survive. you guys should check it out if you're into controversial reading. i don't really know what i believe, but i really love to read books that question religion. very interesting reading.

I felt something in the air telling me I should probably research this topic. I'm glad I did, because there seems to be something to this dooms day prophecy. Although, It is not what most of us think. Here is what I found.

The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.

According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way, ninety degrees relative to the black hole, at its center. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.

In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity will cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension.

The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.

Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.

Humans have freewill, Earths future is not set yet, nor predictable:
STRIVE FOR PEACE

Oh dear. More end times predictions again. These have been going on ever since religion started. Forget them and don't worry about it. The world won't end for a while yet, unless the fundies get into power in the states. They'll have access to the largest arsenal of WMDs in the world, and will try to bring about the armageddon they so desire.

One day this world will end as we all know it, but no one knows when.

Matthew 24:36
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matthew 25:13
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Mark 13:32
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
