Are you friendly with him? I would ask her what her opinion is of this. She might give you some insight into how he would recieve this information. It isn't like you started seeing her while they were married. He may not have any concern with who she dates.

I am not a man so I am not totally sure about all the "man laws" but seems to me you might want to, especially if you consider him a friend or are on friendly terms with him, If he finds out later he is going to be upset for not at least pretending you cared what he thought

You should let her know to avoid surprises and awkward situations.
I would not check with him at all unless you could see a collision approaching. If the 3 of you are never together, that should be sufficient.
