ok I know this is gonna sound stupid but me & the missus r arguing over the definition of a "round of sandwiches"!!! :))

I believe this to mean one sandwich ie two bits of bread and a filling, my gf believes it means one slice of bread and a filling ie half a sandwich.

Does anyone out there know which of us is right? (I'm sure it's gotta be me!)

Many thanx!

A round sandwich is just a round piece of bread sliced in half and the extra bread taken out and filled with whatever you want...then slice and eat. Girlfriend is wrong. Sorry girlfriend.

I`d say you are right. 1 sandwich, or a round of sandwiches to me is 2 bits of bread filled.
But it is a bit of a contradiction coz a round of toast is one slice of bread.
Still, if you asked me for a round of sandwiches, you`d get 2 bits of bread filled.

Unless otherwise stated a round of sandwiches is "sandwiches for more than one - but as you state two slices and filling. Your GF is getting confused with an open sandwich which is one slice of bread uncut and filling (eaten with knife and fork). Unless you are a mucky chappie which I dont think so because you are trying to get the right etiquette of eating and ordering. Now where I come from lad we ask for a doorstep sandwich which is around one inch thick x2slices and filling now thats a mans meal to be eaten as a snack, coz they are big boys in them their hills, you see. So get back to your sarni and enjoy and who cares what the correct title is and long as your making it ??????????

I'm afraid you're going to have to tell your girlfriend......
She is wrong! Hope you don't gloat too much! If several people are having sandwiches you would ask for several rounds. a round is indeed two full slices, with filling and cut into halves or quarters.

Then I'm real stupid cause if I heard that I'd think it mean a bunch of sandwiches, one for each person, as you would do if you bought a round of drinks.
