Plan something to do that takes you out of the moment. Call friends, clean out the file cabinet or closet. Write about what you are feeling and how you do not have to go through the withdrawals again if you chose not to drink one day at a time. Your doctor can prescibe Valium for a few days. Try going to an AA meeting and sharing with others there how you are feeling, they can help and they will understand. If you call your local chapter they will send someone to be with you or pick you up for a meeting. You might try eating and taking vitamins with potassium. Tomatoes, bananas etc. can help. When you want a drink try substituting ice cream because it does help. Good luck!

For the physical withdrawals drink plenty of juice (OJ) and eat some honey or some fruits and get plenty of sleep. You can also have the doctor prescribe some valium.

For the mental/emotional aspect opf the withdrawals I would suggest looking up your local AA meeting.
