So somebody is trying to scam me eon Ebay for $600 and paypal only protects me up to $200. I'm a poor college student and cant afford to lose that much money. I've found the person's address, name, and relatives, but I can't find a phone number. The only one i've found is incorrect. HELP!

To be more specific, I purchased an item from ebay from someone with feedback and paid via paypal, which only will reimburse up to $200. I have, of course filed with Ebay and paypal. As for reverse address searches, they come up with a hpone number which is incorrect (if you run a search on the # it comes up with a totally different address). Thanks for all of your help so far!

Are you saying you had an item for sale on ebay for $600 and the high bidder will not pay? If so, hopefully you have not mailed out the item. If the person has not paid and you have the item, after 10 days you can relist (but inform the first buyer anyway) and leave negative feedback.
1. Do you belong to SquareTrade? If not, this might be reason to join in the future. I have used SquareTrade a number of times on minor problems but it's well worth the $90 per year.
2. Contact Ebay. Let them know you have a non-paying bidder.
3. Go to Ebay's help section: http://pages.ebay.com/help/index.html
Under #1 you can request the buyer's contact information which will have the phone number.
If I misread your problem, please leave more detail. I'm an avid Ebay seller and will gladly help you.
If you were the buyer and they didn't come through with the product, check on this site. You may be eligible for up to $2000 coverage: http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/questions/protection-program.html
This site also gives you other options to which to complain.
Did you opt for insurance or delivery confirmation?
Go the old fashion way for finding telephone numbers and call information. If you have the name and address, then it should be no problem.

If you can't afford to lose that much, what the heck were you buying for $600 that you really needed?
As for a phone number, try whitepages.com. If you go to Reverse Address Look Up, type in the address, and it will give you their phone listing and name.

If the phone number is incorrect so might the address but you can try a site like the ultimate yellow pages online and try typing in their address and name and city and that and you might be lucky.

Think they're gonna answer the phone anyway? I got burned for 980, but luckily ebay didn't withdraw the money.

Try to contact Ebay or pay pal directly, and if they cant assist you with the problem, then call information. If they are listed then you can get the number. If that doesnt work, go to their house.... kick their *** and get your money..

Try the link above, if they have a listed phone number that should work. I'd send a letter for sure.
