First, some clarification: There are some kinds of lies that are probably okay. When I ask someone at work "How are you this morning?" I'm just making talk, and I don't really want to hear them say their morning is crappy because the laundry didn't get done last night and they were rushed to get ready and their kid projectile-vomited on their jacket as they were getting ready to leave. "I'm fine, thank you," may be a lie, but it's a lie we can all live with. Similarly, if I'm about to go do something where appearance is important and I ask someone "How do I look?" I'd really rather they not tell me "Well, you look sorta like one of the dancing hippos in Disney's Fantasia" or something like that. "You look fine" works for me unless something is torn, dirty, or otherwise in need of emergency shoring up.

Also true, if the person who lies to you is a stranger or someone who you have not invested with trust or affection, you can rationalize that in lying to you, they've shown themselves to be someone you really don't want to get to know any better, and be grateful they showed their true colors to you.

But lies that are founded in meanness, spite, a desire to hurt, or an absence of care whether they hurt or not, and are made by someone you trust or care about, are the spiritual equivalent of spitting on someone. In a way, I think being lied to in that way is worse than physically being spat upon, because you can always dismiss someone who spits on you physically as uncouth, mentally challenged, or in some way not normal. You can't always rationalize that with someone who lies to you.

So I guess that while I'd prefer not to be either lied to or spat upon, I'd rather be spat upon by someone than lied to by someone I cared about.

I would personally prefer neither .However, if someone spit on me I would kick their ***, and I am not a violent person. If they lied to me I would just leave them alone, I don't want a relationship with anyone who does not respect and value me enough as a human being to be honest with me. God bless****

I'd rather be spit on because that washes off and a lie lasts forever.
