i'm a pagan and i have 8 tattoos and 7 piercings right now. plans to get more. my best friend is wiccan and has no piercings but she has about 14 tattoos or so. our former tattoo artist is wiccan and has about 20 piercings and uh...70 tattoos. i would have to generally 'atheists or other' because christians are more strict with beliefs, but then you have the liberal christians that will have tattoos and piercings and drive harleys lol.

I'm a Christian with no tattoos. I have quite a few atheist friends, and I don't think any of them have tats. Most of the people I know who are heavily tattooed are Pagans. I don't know why, but locally, they seem to be more prone to have tattoos than any other religious group I can think of offhand. Not saying that all of them have tattoos, but many of them do. Some of the designs are quite interesting.

Neither I or any of my atheist friends have tattoos of any kind... however most of my christian friends have at least one.
Now this is obviously anecdotal and not necessarily representative of the population.
I'd say most religions get tattoos in equal proportions, with the possible exception of islam or those that may specifically prohibit it.

I'm an atheist and I have nine tattoos of snakes, a panther and a peacock and a red lion rampant with a Scottish flag.

As a Christian, I have no tattoos or piercings. I use to have my one nipple pierced and the webbing between my thumb and forefinger. Though I have none today and probably will never again I do not look down on them.

Both, but I'm married to a tattoo artist. He's an atheist, but also knows some very religious Christian tattoo artists.

This Phenomenon,I have been studying,I don"t have the answer
as to why,the Self Mutilation,I started to get a small tatto while I was in Mil.,for some reason,I was in line, all of a sudden,I didn"t want one,But you have raised A very-very Good Question.

i have piercing. but meh its 50/50, i know some christian punkers who have lots of tattoos and piercings. *shrug*
