Isn't it against the law to do that? If you have moved from one state to another since Sept 11, 2001, the information you have to give the bank has to be concrete solid. What would the Bank of America use as an Identification number for the illegal for tax purposes? Something is not right here?

Heck no. They sure wouldn't give me a credit card with nothing more than a name and 3 mos. with a checking account and no overdrafts. How are they going to track them down to collect if they don't pay? How are credit agencies going to keep track of them? I just find it strange that they can steal our information, ruin us financially and they get credit with nothing more than a name and a checking account and no real way to track them. How nice!

sad but true. I've seen it happen. Immigration in the US is a joke. Illegals have more rights than legal immigrants and visa holders. I lived in the US for 8 years, my whole family speak English fluently, I hold a PhD degree. However because my work visa could not be renewed and I couldn't find any loophole in the law, fake wife, or wanted to stay in the country illegally, I ended up having to leave the country my kids learned to love. We all felt at home up there (contrary to some who live in ghettos and only speak their native language) and respected the US law while the global scumbags that will probably get an amnesty in a near future will benefit from their law breaking strategies. They will find defenders who say "they work hard and pay taxes" so let me tell you all this: I did the same PLUS under the law and because of that people like me is being punished. This sucks! I'm now well adjusted back in my country but I know my kids wish they were still there. Maybe, who knows, they will go back someday but I'll make sure they take no passports, produce fake ID's and SSN's and don't forget to go in a makeshiftboat ride or cross a desert so they can be more successful.....

The Bank of America’s new plan to expand its customer base includes appealing to illegal aliens. The company’s new program waives social security requirements for people applying for credit cards as long as they have held a checking account for at least 3 months and can provide a $99 security deposit.

I bet legal Americans cant get credit cards that easy.No there should be one standard. Just one that applies to all people that are bank customers.

If we were to go by the law establishing Social Security as it is written, it is illegal even now to demand a person's Social Security number for identification! But then, the lawmakers themselves were the first to violate the law, so everyone else just decided "if they can, we can!"

No no No no No no No no No!!!!

This is just another example of the US bending over backwards to help out illegal immigrants. I pray that other banks and financial institutions do not follow Bank of America's example!!

Absolutely Positively NOT! There would be sooo much fraud that it would be make our heads spin. Even with Social Security numbers, there is fraud committed. Do the banks think that people with NO Social Security cards will make payments? Heck, I could spend spend spend and then cut and run. Address verification and job verification are so easily falsified.

absolutely not, unless other documentation of legal status can be obtained (green card, visa, etc.) There should be no encouragement of illegal activity by bank of america.

Neal Boortz brought up a good point though that if you let them have checking accounts, you could seize the assets to pay down the national debt.

I am a Bank of America credit card customer and they checked me out with a fine tooth comb for my card. It is discrimination against people who are here legally and applied for credit fairly.
I'm transferring my accounts if they don't stop this immediately. If everyone does that then who will pay for all of the illegals who ARE GOING TO DEFAULT on their payments.

I don't see how it's anyones business who BofA gives their credit cards to. It's their bank. Not ours. As a business, they should have the right to decide who they want to give a card to. It is not up to you or me. Me personally, I'd loan a hard working Hispanic person money before I'd give it to most of my American friends.
