I know everyone says that getting your significant other's name on your body, but what about your last initial. Like, our last name starts with a Z and I was wanting to get something done with that.

I don't think that getting a name tattooed is a jinx, but it is something I stick clear of for the obvious 'what if' reasons.

I think the initial is a great idea because you can make it really decorative and beautiful and less obvious than a name. Go for it. If you have having issues coming up with designs, check sites like bmezine.com and ratemyink.com for inspiration and have a tattoo artist help you draw a custom design so you can get exactly what you want.

I have always heard that doing any part of their name is bad luck. I have also heard that some tatoo artists wont do a significant others name on the other persons body for this reason.

If your always going to be wondering about "what if" then you must not expect your marriage to last. If you dont care about the "what if's" then go for it. I had "Mike" in a heart tattooed on my chest for my very first tattoo. We broke up, I had it filled in with black and purple wings added, then we got back together and got married. 10yrs strong now. I went a few yrs ago and had his name "Michael" put on my shoulder. My artist asked if I was sure about it. "If" something were to happen, not divorce but death, this also happens to be my youngest son's name, I can just have my other kids names added to it and no one would know the wiser. Your body, your marriage, your decision.

Well, if things went south with the relationship and you had the Z put in ink on your body, a clever tattoo artist should be able to cover it if you so desired. I say people make their own luck so I'd probably do it if I were in your shoes.

The whole bad luck thing is stupid,it's just here-say. But if you were to get something, don't get it in black which will be hard to cover up, because you never know what may happen.....I have my husbands name on my ankle with a band of sun moons and stars, because he is my everything... Just think it out.....

If you are married and it is the name you took, don't, because even after many years something can go wrong. If it is your last name that you were given at birth, sure, why not?

If you have a Z tattooed on you; there are chances people might associate ZORRO with you and joke about it!... I don't think it is bad luck though. I would not do it myself because I think people are not like animals that you brand like the ranchers do with their herds! No offense though. I find it rather amusing but it's up to your own decision.
