1. wash and condition it really well
2. let it dry till it's about 70% dry
3. put in a straightening product(I prefer Loreal Paris Studio HOT Straightener or Paul Mitchel Super Skinny)
4. Use the iron and section your hair off
5. straighten each section

depends on what kinda iron u mean...house hold iron use wax paper and put your hair under the paper and iron..a flat iron from the store make sure your hair is clean and dry and just iron it. I have found the best iron is from con-air it has turbo heat and goes up to 250 degrees and with the turbo 500 degrees I am mixed with white and black I cant even find a straightening kit that makes my hair straight. But that con-air makes it bone straight. good luck

I don't think it matters. Make sure ur iron isnt too hot. If it's a really hot iron put a towel over ur hair. If it is mild then just iron it straight on the hair. Lay ur hair on a table and do it. It helps if someone does it for u.

wash it before and blow dry it... make sure your hair is totally dry before straightening because the water will create steam and burn your scalp( and it will hurt like hell, trust me) And if you don't wash it before it will smell like burnt nasty hair... make sure you use protection( cream, sprays, lotions they have specific ones for heat) before straighten so it doesn't burn you hair. don't use an iron.... use a straightener it's safer and it is good at the one thing it's suppose to do... An iron is good at the one thing it does iron clothes... not your hair.

when women used to iron their hair, it used to be a little wet, but they'd place a towel over their hair and place that hair on the ironing board and get out the iron...

they have invented hair straighteners, hot irons to make this process a lil easier. i think you have to towel dry your hair and blow dry it a little.
