I'm sorry for your trouble. Your symptoms could be minor like in common viruses or more serious for example, strep throat. Most viruses take a week to two weeks to recover. If you have a visible patchiness, whitish or yellowish drainage on your tonsils or oropharnyx then there is the possibility of strep. A high fever >101 tends to be bacterial in nature. If after 2 weeks you are not better or there is a worsening of symptoms sooner, see a physician for antibiotics. Antibiotics cannot cure a virus. Untreated bacterial infections can lead to heart damage discovered later in ones life. In the mean time, drink 2 liters of fluids a day, take Tylenol as directed and eat soft foods. May you get better soon.

I have had it for about a month now. Some days it's almost gone, then it comes back. I suck throat sweets and use Olbas oil inhalations. I had it last year as well, it went in about 4-5 weeks. Look after yourself and it will go soon.

Im going through it for a week now. On sunday I couldnt barely talk. Now its a stuffy nose and nagging cough. Mucinex helps alot. Youll still cough but stuff will come up with no effort.

Do not ignore it as continual sore throats can be a prelude to other long lasting illnesses.
