I don't believe the falsehood in the first response. You definitely don't find high rates of belief in the UK- it can't rightly be compared with Poland or Italy. My brother is a pastor and he freely admits the difficulty he has maintaining his current congregation. It's a secular society where perhaps 10% or less of the population are regular church goers. It's currently in sharp decline so hopefully it will be gone within a couple of decades.

I'm sorry to have no definative answer for you - but I've traveled to eourpe yearly for many years and spent a semester in switzerland. There are many beautiful cathedrals and churches, but they mostly serve as tourist attractions and concert halls.

Seems to be fading. There are still meetings in the chuches and other places, but they seem diminished.

The small town I lived in had one large church and maybe 20% of the population visited it for services. But there seemed to be no connection for the people I knew to God other than attending the service one day a week.

That depends on the country. You'll find pretty high rates of belief in the UK, Spain, Italy, Poland. You'll find the lowest rate in Sweden, where only 4% of the country attends church.

In Norway and Finland, you'll curiously find that most people are Lutheran, but don't believe there is a God.

I think that, for the most part, European countries tend to be fairly secular. I'm sure there are exceptions, but it seems to be that way. Notice that most of the UKers and other Europeans on here are either atheist or agnostic.
