If I get my dog neutered, will it help him calm down from being so hyper all the time and help him stop marking his territory all over the house?

I have a Cocker Spaniel and he is 6 mths old. I don't plan on breeding him so I do plan on getting him fixed.

Well it sure will help and it is also medically doing him a big favor. It is also your responsibility to neuter as his owner. There are way to many unwanted dogs on earth now.As long as there still stands one on death row at a shelter there is no need to breed. Even if you are not thinking of breeding these things find way to happen be sure.Even neutered dogs mark their territory though not to the extent of those unneutered. Could he still be a pup or is he just real hyper anyhow. If he's a pup just give him time he will mellow out.

Depends on his age...it should help with marking inside, though he may still mark outside. You didn't say his age, but as a breeder, I don't recommend neutering a male until he's a year....unless of course he is having issues, but yours sounds like he's older.
The hyperness will subside with neutering, but not right away, give it 4-6 months. The marking should stop sooner. Be sure to clean all the spots he marked inside with bleach or Nature's miracle so he cannot smell it anymore.

He might stop marking his territory, it depends on his age and the dog himself. I have seen a 9 yr old male get neutered and stop.

Neutering will help his behavior, to a certain point. If he is hyper from lack of exercise or stimulation (play, training, toys), neutering will not help. It should help with the marking of his territory, but it will not housebreak him. My keeshond is neutered, he is housebroken, but when he goes to the bathroom outside he still lifts his leg. He was neutered when we got him, but not housebroken.

That depends on the dog.
It will probably help with marking his territory, but the only thing that will help crazy behavior is training.
Testicles or no testicles, if a dog is not trained to behave, he isn't going to do it.

Yes, getting him fixed will get him to stop marking your house and should calm him down significantly.

GET HIM NEUTERED! he will be less hyper, less territorial, and won't spray anymore. it also extremely reduces his chances of getting prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. also, it will make him live a healthier longer life.
