It just doesn't work. It's hook is "Believe in Jesus Christ, your savior, and you will go to Heaven!"

So, say I am this evil person. The next Hitler, if you will. I kill millions of people. I rape, pillage, and destroy whole cultures. I live to the ripe old age of 98. On the day before my death, I decide that Jesus is my savior, but I do not regret all the things I did in my life.

Am I going to Heaven? Technically, if Christians abide by their own rules, I am. It doesn't matter what I did, it doesn't matter who I kill, if I believe in Jesus before the end, I am guaranteed to go to Heaven.

This makes no sense at all. How do I get into Heaven if I killed millions upon millions of people?

Also, remember, the day before I died, I accepted Jesus. I don't regret anything, I don't feel sorry. I just decide that Jesus is my Savior.

Would I go to Heaven? (If it exists)

Hun, God will judge your actions, I cannot speak for him. Each of us must decide for ourselves the sense that Christianity makes...to me, it makes perfect sense and is the only logical way of life. I do believe in scientific theory and fact as well. God loves you, no matter what.

It's not as simple as taking a pill to get well. We are put on this earth to make a choice. And the Bible says some will be called and others hearts will be hardened. You could read the Bible cover to cover and still not "get it". When you are ready, He will call you to Him...no, not verbally...but He will lead you to search it out and find a way. He loves people like you...because I was like you, and He uses people like us to prove that even we can come to know Him and live for other than ourselves. If you come to Jesus at all, you will regret all the things you did in your life. Ask anyone who's been at His feet (figuratively speaking). And just because you killed millions of people, doesn't mean you do not face the consequences of your actions on earth...but that is what GRACE is...it's given to us, not because we deserve it, but because He chooses to give it. So yes, if you repent (which literally means "to turn away from", and ask Jesus to be your savior you will go to Heaven...and yes, it exists. He doesn't love us because we do everything right...He loves us because we're His in the first place. Whether you acknowledge Him or not, He acknowledges you. It's a good question, and I hope that you not only find the answer you are looking for here, but that He gives you the answer you are looking for in life. And don't kill a million people....that's the kind of thing that looks bad on a resume. Take care!

This is one of the biggest turn offs about Christianity for me. Its not why I am not a believer, for me there are many illogical things about Christianity and most religions. This concept is totally disturbing though if you really think it through. It doesn't matter how good a person you were, if you didn't accept their religious belief in Christ is the son of God you go to Hell. Hitler could go to heaven if he got scared in those last moments in the bunker and repented and yet the all the Jewish people and other people (including children) all went to hell because they didn't accept Jesus as their savior. Its offensive and even if there were such a God I would want no part of it. Not all Christians believe this these days some denominations no longer do, which raises the question of how written in stone are these absolute "truths". Fundamentalists continue to see God this way though and many other denominations.

Your quote.. "Believe in Jesus Christ, your savior, and you will go to Heaven!" doesn't seem to be the foundation of Christianity....not all Christians agree that just believing in Jesus will save them.
Jesus made it clear that Christianity is a very practical subject; if you truly believe in Jesus you will have to prove it. The proof is the love you show towards those around you.
To say that you will go to heaven just by saying you believe in Jesus is nonsense. Anyone can say this.
Now, about whether Heaven exists or not....we shouldn't worry too much since only God decides who go to Heaven; you have no choice in the matter.

Kali, there are many different sects of Christianity, and you are generalizing their teachings. I'm not sure which sect preaches what you are talking about (I've heard it preached before but I don't recall which ones teach it). However the sect that I study (Mormonism) doesn't believe you would go to "heaven" if you lived a terrible life yet killed million of people and just had a death bed coffession. If that's how it really worked, it wouldn't be fair or have any purpose. I agree, if a religion preaches that, they don't make any sense.

You're implying that it's unfair that people have gotten away with doing anything they wanted to, all of their lives, and yet, nearing the end of their lives, they supposingly accepted Jesus Christ, to get saved from going to Hell when they really had no regrets for their past sins.

Understand that Christianity is the Christian religion, founded on the life and teachings of Jesus. Therefore, it would be impossible for anyone to say that they believe in and have accepted Jesus Christ and NOT feel remorse and a need for repentance for past sins.

Those people you are referring to, have NOT accepted Jesus Christ, nor believe in the life and teachings of Jesus, and rest assuredly, they will not go straight to heaven, no matter what they proclaim publicly.

Remember, there's Judgment Day for us all, from one who knows all!

There must be a reason why you want it to make sense my dear. The world was in much more of a quandary when Jesus was alive dear. As you study the Holy Bible and see how things were when Jesus came among us and saved the world again from a fate worse than the great flood. You will begin to understand then every time you see a beautiful rainbow it will be God's reminder of his great love for you. You need not trouble your mind with such burdens dear You are one of Gods beautiful children. Do not allow yourself to be led astray by foolishness. Attend a Church of your choice this Sunday. meet some people of your own age. Join in their fellowship see how much joy it will bring.

My answer is no. Christianity doesn't make any more sense than any of the other religions. Fortunately, religion is very flexible. You are free to believe anything you care to. Others may not agree but your imagination is every bit as good as theirs.
Religion is anything you imagine it to be. One set of religious superstitions are replaced by another, only to be changed again and again since the beginning of time.
If you believe in forgiveness, great. No one can prove you right or wrong. If you believe that you have to carry your load of sins with you, same thing - - no proof either way.
Will you go to heaven ? My belief is that you and I and all the others will return to nature from which we came.

you are very sick mined and you don't know God's word and it does matter what you have done and you will be judge on all your wrong when Jesus comes again it takes more than just accepting Jesus to get into heaven. The bible states that only one hundred and forty-forty is going to heaven maybe you will be in that group or maybe you won't I'm hopping to be in the group that stays here on earth to help to clean it back up as it was in the beginning really. As long as I'm not in the group that is going to burn in the lake of fire alone with Satan and his followers I'm fine with that.

To go to heaven you have to be born again. To be born again you have to repent for your sins and realize that you are a sinner and that you need a saviour. Then you must turn to christ to save you from the consequences of sins and accept him into your heart as your Lord and Savior. If you are born again then yes no matter what sins you do you will go to heaven because you trusted in Jesus death and resurrection on the cross to save you from damnation. How can I truly know that I am saved if I did wrong and did not even regret the mistakes I made. God saves us so that we may do good works so that others may turn to him and praise him. If I am truly born again how can I violate Gods commands and not even have remorse for sinning against him. If I truly loved God I would atleast learn from my mistakes. But again this is up to the sinner if he/she accepts or rejects the gift of eternal life.

I think that Jesus Christ was a prophet and messenger of peace. I don't really believe he was the son of God or a product of the virgin birth. In reading the Scriptures, I felt that he was trying to encourage missionaries to spread his gospel around the world and bring people together under his rule. I don't think he would've approved of the Crusades or the actions of the Roman Empire. He probably wouldn't be so concerned about the importance of religious authority and what particular sect of Christianity one followed.
