At one time unless a person had done something they wouldn't be helped, but now this is such a sensitive area that the authorities cannot afford to take any chances, so such a person would immediately be taken away from temptation and given whatever treatment necessary to quell their obsession. I don't know anything other than castration that would work for such a person, because sooner or later all paedophiles have to act out their obsession. God only knows what an adult could possibly find sexually attractive about a child. It makes me want to throw up.

I doubt there is a pedophile who really wants help instead of wanting to act on his perversions. However, if such a fairy tales exists, he can go to a psychiatrist and pay money just like anyone else should have to in order to get therapy. He does not have to commit a crime to see a doctor. That is just ridiculous and a horrible excuse for bad bad behavior. Anyone can go to a psychologist or psychiatrist any time they want to. They just have to pay for it.
This theoretical "pedophile with a conscience" might want to consider suicide before he hurts some little kid that will have to live with the damage the rest of his life.

A paedophile is someone, who, by common nomenclature, wishes to have sexual contact with persons who are classified as children.

If a person considers himself or herself to be a danger to children, then that person should go to their Doctor (of Medicine), immediately. It is not an offence to hold fantasies about sexual contact with those under the age of consent, and any potential sex-offender who surrenders himself or herself to medical help will not be reported to the Police, at least in England.

I would posit that a lot of people who become paedophiles, flashers and the like do so because their natural sexual development has been arrested at some stage, and they have become scared of sexual contact in its normal manifestation - i.e. intercourse -be it hetero or gay, with an adult..

Such people need help, and Doctors can refer them to helpers, in confidentiality. It is surely best that someone who has not actualised paedophile drives is given counselling, to establish and cure the motive that could lead to the destruction of the lives of both the putative paedophile, and his or her victim.

A pedophile, by definition, is someone who is sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children. It is a mental disorder, NOT a crime. ACTING on those urges, as you point out, can often result in criminal behavior, but those crimes are called something besides pedophilia -- rape, sexual battery, sexual assault, indecent liberties with a child, etc. Someone with pedophilia has a mental illness and in the absence of any accompanying criminal behavior should be treated within the mental health system. Seek help from a psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor or social worker. NOW!

If a person knows they have tendencies toward being a pedophile, I don't know if they can be helped or not.
I do know that according to my college professor (Criminal Justice), that less than 1% of pedophiles are ever rehabilitated. And most have perpetrated numerous crimes on children before ever being caught and prosecuted.

Usually the only way to "Help" a poedo is by castration. That has been the only method proven to work. It is used through out Europe and is starting to become more prevalent in the U.S.

He can get help all he has to do is get a psychologist. Help is always availble for people with problems all they have to do is seek it and be honest with that person about themselves. My I also suggest he talk the the psychologist or therapist and ask about going into a support group for abused people.

Legally, if he hasn't done anything, nothing can be done.

Mentally he's got a problem because thoughts turn into actions. sometimes.......but legally, if he hasn't done anything, he's done nothing wrong and can't be prosecuted. He can seek and get help though, but he is not a criminal.....Thoughts are not proof he has comitted a crime.

Someone who looks at a child and sees a sex object has a problem. Whether or not that problem manifests in physical ways is not indicative of the severity of the problem. This person could seek help through therapy, but I would push for castration.

Nothing will be done - because the capatalists would not spend money on prevention - they would rather wait until nothing can be done until they they say something is wrong.
