Absolutely. Or else it wouldn't be such a discussed and controversial issue for such a long time. Bird flu represents an important danger for human health because it is a virus different from what the human species is used to deal with.

The warning that we get from specialists lately is that this avian influenza virus (or more simply bird flu) could mutate into a form that could be passed on from person to person with much ease. Then it would be almost impossible for the human body to combat the disease, at least until an effective vaccine or cure is found (which takes months at the very least).

However, this step towards mutation has not been confirmed yet. Biologists are saying it could take a few years till that happen. In the meantime you can find more information on the subject here : http://www.bird-flu-center.com

Much. Now, if you are talking about the bird flu that can be caught by humans, very much so. It has a high % of death, like 80-90%, especially in the healthy 20-40 year old group. That is why all the press. Now, is it hard to catch...yes...right now. If it gets into a person and mutants and becomes easier to pass on, we are in a world of hurt. The last bad strain took out thousands of Americans right around the first world war. Some whole families would be found dead in their house. Let's hope for the best, but plan ahead. Hope this helps.

It can be. The problem is we have not had an outbreak in so long it is unknown weather we will have any immunity to it. One doctor who helped with the Sarz outbreak believes, because we all are descendants of those who survived the 1800 outbreak of bird flu we should have some immunity. The problem however is that the way we live our lives today is increasingly depleting our immune system. Not to worry there are ways to protect ourselves and improve our bodies. The site in the source area has wonderful info on these improvements and how easy it really is. It would be of best interest to explore the site. Also the doctor above made a CD and I can send you one if you would like.

If a man was to get it yes,as Man Flu refers to the "manufactured illness" derived from the perception that men are "overly dramatic when they [claim a cold is the] flu."
A web-based survey of readers of Nuts magazine in late 2006 stirred interest in this phenomenon but was criticised as unscientific and unreliable.

Man flu is worse than anything anyone can get because men are big babies!

Just goes to prove once again which sex is better!

Yessssssss Women,,,,, Big it up for us tough nuts!!!!

Follow the link below, it gives a detailed breakdown of the differences between avain flu and pandemic flu. In my opinion it's not bird flu we need to watch out for, it's a mutation in the ebola virus. If that becomes airborne it won't be pretty.

flu is a virus. as it passes from one person to the next it mutates and adapts to that persons make-up. in time you build up resistance to the virus that attacked you, but once mutated by another person, it can attack you again without any defence.
if bird flu mutates to people, nobody will have had it before and it will run wild as no defence will be found in the body.
millions of strains will be produced as it passes through the population and finding a cure will probably take years, if at all.
