Your thoughts are just "Thoughts." They are neither true or false, they are just thoughts. YOU are the one who determines their relevance.
What you CHOOSE to THINK and BELIEVE about yourself is what determines how true something is for you.
If YOU choose to believe you are a coward, then you begin to act that in your life. However, if you choose to think and believe differently about yourself, then you will begin to act that in your life. What you think affects how you feel. How you feel affects your general mood. Your mood affects your actions.
PLEASE take time to consider your life. It is a gift from God. You are precious to God. BELIEVE THAT!
YOU can change your thoughts and beliefs...please read "You Can Be Happy No Matter What" by Richard Carlson or "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay.

I think "cowardly" is the wrong choice of word. If failing is to be considered cowardly, then success must be considered brave. I think few people would describe suicide as a brave act, especially when done as an act to escape ones pain or misery.
If anything, I would say that you desperately want less pain and misery. While suicide may seem as a definite solution to ending pain and misery, it comes at the cost of ending ones life, too. Perhaps you feel the cost of ending your life is not worth the cost of ending the pain and misery under such terms. That is not cowardly.
If you have not yet, seek help. I know life can suck and suck extremely hard, but try to let go of whatever is bothering you. Live life under your own terms and don't worry what others have to say. **** them.

I don't consider you a coward. Sometimes life gets too hard to bare. The people that do call you a coward obviously don't know what it's like to have a hard life so pay no mind to them. Life IS worth living though, you just have to find that reason. Everytime I feel suicidal I think well if I can just make it one more day maybe life has something in store for me tomorrow. If you tell yourself that everyday, soon enough it will be days or maybe even weeks that your still alive. I find it easier to sit down, set a goal no matter how minor and stick around to see if one day I'll reach my goal. That's how I keep myself from doing "it".

It sounds like your attempts are more of a cry for help. You want someone to notice how bad you are feeling and you are acting out in ways that hurt you in an effort to be noticed for how sick you are.
You need to seek help from a qualified psychologist and be evaluated. Depending on your situation you may need to try an SSRI to help stabilize your moods.
I know what you mean about suicide. I tried it once and I called the ambulance myself because I changed my mind. I was minutes away from dying. I decided it was selfish of me to leave people behind who cared about me...I have been fighting my depression for years. The way I view it is that things cannot get better if you are dead because death is final. If you keep fighting to live and try to make life better there's always potential that your life can improve. While I do have depression still I also have a family now. I would never have had them if I had been successful years ago.

The brave thing to do would be to try and get your life in order and make it worth living. Try to see the good things in life. The only cowardly thing you have done is attempt suicide. I had somebody close to me kill themselves, and I didn't see it as an act of bravery or of mercy, I saw it as an act of cowardice-- be strong and face up to life. It has plenty of ups if you are willing to see them. Talk to a therapist about your thoughts.

My heart goes out to you. I am bipolar & get suicidal regularly. In fact, I keep suicide as a "just in case plan" all the time. It's like an addiction for me so I understand what you mean about "mind toy". When we are in pain, we want out of pain. You need treatment. You need a good psychiatrist & a good therapist. The fact that you are scared to die is a really, really good sign. You just want to be out of pain. Hang in there. Try to get appts w/the pros & in the meantime, use the support of friends & family & try journaling. It really helps me. Good luck to you. Don't suffer alone. Get some help!

Coward for failing?
I think coward for trying... Enjoy life. Get mental treatment and realize it's a precious thing to have been born.
*Edit* I agree with what dragonson below says. Although, since God has no evidence, you don't need to truly believe you are precious to him.
But you ARE precious to your family.

Suicide is a cowardly act. Face up to your hardships and conquer them.
Think of how your family will feel about you committing suicide.
