Because in our "politically correct" world we are told to be tolerant of all religions. But the same people that expect us to be tolerant of Islam, Buddism, Hiduism, etc think it's perfectly ok to bash Christians and Jews.
Pick one: Tolerate all or be able to criticize all equally!

I'm pretty far to the left, and I don't hate religion. I hate certain actions that are based in religious beliefs (and yes, there is a difference). I dislike a great deal of the actions based in Islam, including violence, indoctrination of children, and violence against women. However, the most obvious reason that left-leaning Americans tend to focus on Christianity is because America is a Christian-majority nation--so they have the most influence. Grease the squeakiest wheel, and all.

I suppose I am a little more afraid of Islam than Christianity as far as being personally physically attacked. But I bet the reason is that we all speak English and really don't know much about Islam and are less aware of it in our immediate communities.

That's sort of an American perception. Obviously the broadly defined "left" in the United States isn't anti-religion, because 80% of the US believes in God, and the Democrats swept the last election.

In Europe, it's generally the left that is associated with religion and the right that is associated with secularism.

Economic policy and religion aren't really related. Arguably you could say that Jesus was a leftist with his "first shall be last" talk, but that only goes over well in Europe. Go figure.

Islam is not a dominant force in this country as Christianity is. You can bet that if Islam got really popular and started throwing its weight around like Christianity does, you'd hear some objections. Liberals do not object to Christianity itself, but to the way its followers abuse the power that their religion wields by attempting to force others into their way of thinking. Islam does this as well in countries where it is the dominant religion. Liberals are not against religion, but they are for freedom.

I criticize radical islam as much, if not more, then I criticize radical fundamentalists. In THIS country it's radical Christians that are shoving their beliefs on me...not Muslims.

What is your definition of radical left? Wanting what is expressly laid out by the constitution as a secular nation? Thinking it might be a good idea to have some social programs for the needy?

To further your question, why doesn't the law abiding Muslims condemn this kind of thinking? Violence is no where to be found in the Koran as far as I can tell.

Because the majority of those people still hold to the false belief that Islam is a religion of peace. Christianity invades their comfort zones....because it reveals the truth about themselves.

These are the same people who support abortion.....support the aclu.....support the freedom from religion group.....shall I go on?

It's sickening.

When the Muslims post creationist or anti-atheist nonsense, we jump all over it just as we do when the Christians post creationist or anti-atheist nonsense.

You're just too busy confirming your prejudices to notice.

I havent a clue what you are saying (other than attempting to insult those of us who despise religion...). I, for one, am happy to tell any muslim they are just as deluded as a Christian.
