I was going to put new batteries in this light that I haven't used in awhile, and the old batteries leaked their acid all over inside, stopping the metal from connecting with the batteries. How do I clean out the acid without ruining my light?

It also appears that when I took out the batteries, I lost one of the springs that hold them in--are they necessary for the light to work?

Well...Baking soda will neutralize the acid and then you will have to scrape it off and if you lost a "Spring" you can put a piece of aluminum foil in it's place to secure the batteries in place. good luck!
