Then please explain to me how you can believe also in Joseph Smiths teachings as well as the Book of Mormon.
These scriptures are from the bible - which you claim to believe as truth.
1 Kings 13 tells a story of a prohpet who is told by the Lord to do something. Another older prophet comes along and tells the prophet that God wants him (the first prophet) to come to his house (which was a contradiction to what God told him to do). The prophet then goes to the older prophets house in direct disobediance to God.
He ends up dying because he followed a prophet who told him to go a way OTHER than what the Lord had said. **Go read it**
Mormon doctrine teaches that Jesus is not God. How then, do you explain this verse?
2 John 1:7 states - Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

And finally - Do you just delete this verse out of your bible? I dont know how much clearer the bible can be. Didnt Joseph Smith claim an angel gave him the book of mormon???
Galations 1:6-9 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

To - Beta Fish. I have nothing against LDS people, but I do have a lot against the doctrine that is taught.
1- Joseph Smith is a prophet - Who told people to go another way other than what God told us in the bible. Therefore, if we follow Joseph Smith, we are doomed. (thats what it has to do with the mormon church)
2- You do not believe Jesus Christ is Jesus Christ Gods son as taught in the bible. You believe he is also a prophet, and just a man.
3 - No, if you re-read the scripture, it says if an angel brings you a gospel OTHER than the one you have already received, then let him be condemmed. They are speaking of the Gospel of Jesus as the one that has already been received.

Beta Fish - HAHAHA, Are you now destroying the accuracy of the bible that LDS' believe is the true word of God?
I am not even going to go into detail on your arguments, because they make no sense whatsoever. You are pulling things out of the air that do not exist.
I think YOU need to re-think your arguments.

I'm not Mormon, but I agree with your questioning these things. I would like to see a Mormon honestly reply in detail.
There are many more of these questions that could be asked! There are many areas where other Mormon "scripture" conflicts with the Bible. There is not enough room to list them all, but I would like to highlight a few.
Mormons teach that there are latter day revelations. The Bible says, "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." (Jude 3)
Mormons teach that an angel gave Joseph Smith the Book of Mormon. The Bible says, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-9)
The Book of Mormon teaches that believers were called "Christians" in 73 BC. (Alma 46:15) The Bible says that the desciples were called "Christians first in Antioch". (Acts 11:26) This was about 41 AD.
The Book of Mormon talks about the church also in Alma 46:15. According to the Book of Mormon this was about 73 BC. About 100 years later though, Jesus said "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). This means that the church was yet to be established in the future. (It was established shortly after Christ rose from the dead. (See Acts 2.)
Mormons call young, unmarried men "Elders". The Bible says an Elder must be the husband of one wife (1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:6) and have children that believe (1 Timothy 3:4, Titus 1:6).
The book of Mormon teaches Jesus was to be born at Jerusalem (Alma 7:10). The Bible teaches Jesus was born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:2, Matthew 2:1)
The Book of Mormon teaches that Melchizedek reigned under his father. (Alma 13:18) The Bible teaches his priesthood was without father. (Hebrews 7:3)
Mormons teach that one person can be baptized for another who has already died. Jesus taught "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved". (Mark 16:16) "He... shall be saved". Not he is baptized and someone else shall be saved. We will each be judged by what we have done, not on the basis of what someone else has done. (2 Cor. 5:10)
The Book of Mormon teaches that at Christ's death, darkness covered the land for three DAYS. (3 Nephi 8:19-23) The Bible says it was three HOURS. (Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33, Luke 23:44)
Mormons teach that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith translated it into English with the help of God. On the introduction page of the copy I have, there is a statement that "some minor errors" have existed in past editions that were corrected in this publication. If it were God's word and translated with the help of God, then how did it have any errors, no matter how "minor"?
Also, if there are or were minor errors, how can the book be trusted to be correct in things that relate to showing us the way to serve God and be saved?

Your arguments, though I am sure sincere, do not really hold water, sorry.
Yes, we do believe in the bible. We, churchwide, are currently studying the New Testament in Sunday School. Last year we studied the Old Testament, next year it will either be the D&C or Book of Mormon, then rotate...
We do not believe all that God has to say is shut up in one book, He has many things to say, many things that pertained to the people in the bible days and many things that are for our benefit these latter days.
No person can "make" you understand why we believe in Joseph Smith is a prophet, as well as Gordon Hinckley or Lorenzo Snow or the many that have also held that calling... we believe because we have asked our Heavenly Father if he is a prophet, and we have received answers, we have studied, prayed some more, fasted, and felt the Holy Ghost witness to us that he is a prophet, that he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, that he spoke with them and that they instructed him on restoring the true gospel to the earth. That is called a testimony. No one can 'give' you proof of their testimony, only proof to themselves that what they believe is right.
All of those wonderful verses you gave - their meaning all comes down to interpretation. Really, like the 1 Kings...that to me means any other person claiming religion other than our LDS prophets and leaders. 2 John, many decievers?? Just look at the 100's of different religions there are...there can only be one true church, our God is a god of order, He would not confuse us by throwing 100 churches into the mix and saying "take your pick and see".
Every single doctrine in the gospel points directly to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and to His and our Father in Heaven. There is not one thing we believe in that is contrary to the Bible or Book of Mormon. They go hand in hand with one another. And if a person TRULY read both of them with the spirit of our Heavenly Father, that person would come to understand that both books infact DO teach the same principles and doctrine. They are different books, one is a history of people in the east and one is a history of those in the west. The stories are different but the basic lessons and doctrine are the exact same.
I challenge you to read the Book of Mormon, notice the cross-references at the bottom that reference the Bible.
Bravo - beta_fish, well done.

As others have stated, your arguments aren't very well set forth or don't really provide any punch.
I appreciate your scriptures, but they do not contradict anything the Mormons believe. Maybe you need to sit down with some faithful Mormons or some of their missionaries and talk them through. But, logically, your arguments are flawed.
First, it's a nice story about the two prophets, but no on in the Mormon faith ever said there couldn't be false prophets. Mormons certainly believe in them and believe mankind should be alert and avoid getting decieved.
As far as the angel providing teachings which differ from those in the Bible, Mormons would again agree with you. Fortunately, the teachings of the Mormon faith do not contradict the Bible. They may contradict another religions/churches interpretation of the Bible, but then most religions have their own interpretations. If you are saying they are wrong just because they aren't in line with your beliefs, then you are being ignorant. If there were clear cut errors it would be one thing, but here there are not.
As to Jesus Christ coming in the flesh, the Mormons definitely believe this and hold Christ out to be the cornerstone of their faith. If anyone professes to follow the teachings of Christ, and does so diligently, it is the Mormons. Mormons look to Christ as their Redeemer and Salvation. There are many deceivers out there who will try and lead people astry, and the antichrist is hard at work, but you professing to be the judge of Mormons, claiming they are in essense this antichrist, is unchristlike and you will be judged accordingly; thankfully, judgement is not ours.
I'm guessing that no matter what any Mormon provided to you you will remain diligent and firm in your disagreement. However, we should all strive to be respectful of each other regardless of any differences in our faiths. Religion is just that, faith. Because it is faith based there is little evidence we can use to rebut or tear down others, and we shouldn't. God bless.

You seem to have many inaccurate opinions of what we believe in. You may want to read more before making too many vain accusations.
For example, you said we do not believe Jesus to be a God.
but, from our doctrine and teaching, we teach that Jesus Christ is a member of the "God Heads" He is "Jehovah" in the old testament, and our Savior, Jesus Christ is more than a man, a prophet, or a teacher, he is the creator of the World.
As far as we concern, Angel Moroni brought back the true gospel, whether you believe or not is really your choice. Your rejection does not make our doctrine false. If you are so upset about how we spread the gospel, why don't you go spend your precious time spreading your gospel, or go preach the gospel that you think is better? instead of humoring us with false accusations.
One more thing
Like Daisy said, we believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. Your questioning the truth of the Bible seem to show that you are having doubts in the Bible rather than us.

Yes we believe the Bible to be the word of God so far as it is translated correctly.
Simply put, we do not feel our beliefs (or the writings in the Book of Mormon) conflict in any way with the Bible. Obviously, as with any denomination other than yours, our beliefs imply that we probably have some different interpretations of the same Bible verses (i.e we believe Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, and we believe we are following Christianity as it was first established with prophets and apostles).
Anyway, no need to get into the details, like I said, it all comes down to different denominations interpreting the same verses differently. The question ultimately becomes for every individual - how do you know which interpretation is right?

I'm a member of the LDS church, and you need to work on making your point. OK, we get it that you don't like the LDS church. But let's examine your "evidence" of the error of our ways:
1) What does this story have to do with the LDS church in particular???
2) Mormon doctrine teaches that Jesus Christ IS God. Were you mistaken or are you trying to be intentionally deceptive?
3) Are you then saying that any truth that comes from an angel is deception? If so, you'll have to throw out a pretty large chunk of the Bible's teachings also. This last part...I'm not even sure what you're point is, to be honest...
Edit:
1) So...the entire New Testament, much of which is different than the teachings you reference in 1 Kings and the rest of the Old Testament...must be false doctrine by your own logic. You may want to re-think that one... ;-)
2) Actually, we DO believe that Jesus Christ is GOD, and the literal son of our Heavenly Father, as the Bible teaches. I just love it when other people try to tell me what I believe. "No, you don't believe THAT! You believe THIS!" LOL
3) See 1 above. You do, of course, realize that Galations was written well before many other parts of the New Testament....right? By that logic much of the New Testament is false doctrine, right? Oh, and you forgot the scripture in Deuteronomy in which Moses clearly taught that anything added to the Bible after that was false. You must also apply your interpretation to this scripture and tear out everything after the 5 books of Moses. You may want to rethink your logic there also.... ;-) The LDS church claims to be a restoration of the ancient church Jesus established, because all the various, combative sects of Christianity today have fallen away from the truth. How can you argue that they haven't? They all teach differing, contradictory doctrine. Which one is right? Certainly they all can't be, since they are not one, as Jesus taught His church must be. Certainly there must have been a "falling away" as was prophesied in the New Testament after Christ's ascension. Right? Well, when did it happen?
EDIT 2: Sigh...no, it's called sarcasm. I was pointing out the illogical nature of your own arguments. If your interpretations are to be carried out to their logical conclusion, they would prove the entire Bible incorrect. *That* was my point.
I didn't pull anything out of thin air. If you'd like specific scriptural references I can give them...but you being so knowledgeable of the Bible, I just assumed you were familiar with the well-known scriptures I was referring to. Do you need the references?

We do not take any verse out of the Bible, and I believe that God, is the God of the whole world, and that he had established his teaching in other parts and the Book of Mormon contain teachings of people that lived on this side of the world. The teaching of the Book of Mormon don't contradict anything that the bible teaches, but makes them stronger. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior, I know that he is God's only Begotten Son, He came down from His throne above to shed His blood for all of us! I know there are many ideas and beliefs that you have about the L.D.S church, but you should check out the actual belief before making accusations. There is no need to make snappy judgement. I love you all, and I hope that you have a great DAY! :-)

SERIOULSY its like how can there be so many intelligent people in the mormon faith? there are so many contradictions and changes in their religion- like black people use to be a "cursed" race that was inferior and in the last 20 years they've changed what they've taught and now african americans are ok. And in the Word it says that it's the only true way and to teach otherwise condemns any to hell. I don't get it. Their mission in life is to convert as many as possible and have the largest family to have the biggest planet with the most virgins or something. Wouldn't that piss off the wives raising all 15 children??

The Almighty YHVH set up a system. He sent His “Son” YAHOSHUA to die for the sins of mankind so they would not have to. (They could choose to, but did not have to). Any person who chooses not to allow Yahoshua to take care of their sins, chooses to remain attached to their sins. They thus will wind up in the lake of fire which is YHVH method of cleaning this world, and eliminating sin and sinners. The Creator set aside the Seventh day for rest and worship. Yes that is the day usually called “Saturday”. We are not saved by obedience, we are saved by faith. However we are saved FOR obedience. As He said in John 14:15 (and in many other places) “If you love me, keep my commandments.
Churchianity is a pagan religion. The only thing that will change a person is the indwelling savior Yahoshua. Obviously that is rare in this sinful world.
(I am not a mormon, though I did read the book)
