Evil does not exist by itself. Evil is a non-existence - the inexistence of good. There is only good, evil means no good. (Think of that somewhat similarly to matter: void is lack of matter)

An interesting topic indeed. Bottom line, in order to have one thing, there must be an equal an opposite. Seems the natural wonder of things. Good/ Evil. Black/white. Right/ Wrong, Right/ left. Mostly, opinion gets in the way of what is evil. Personally evil is the worst bad thing. Great is the best good thing. So, are there good and bad hair styles, sure. Are there great and evil hair styles no. Evil is an thought or action, not a thing. Is evil in man, yes. Is greatness in man, yes. He elects to let one out. Evil does exist. Never tempt it. I believe so, how else can you account for the massive atrocities that are committed everyday?? Child rapes, torturous murders, genocides, cannibalism I could be here all day giving examples of evil. Man can be used as a tool to commit evil acts, it does not have to be an evil act done by a demon.

If God exists, the Devil exists. If there are bad people there are good people. If there's up there's down. If there's pain there's joy. If there's life there's death. It should be very very easy for people to know that evil exists.

There are actions that are helpful and actions that are harmful. These are the only basis for ethical decisions.

I'd like to think not but anything is possible. I am a strong believer in the afterlife and ghost, spirits and all that but the evil thing has me stumped because I don't want to believe in that but then why do bad things happen. It has to but I hope I never run into it face to face

Look deeply into yourself... do you see a kind, loving unharming person or do you see your propensities to cheat, steal, abuse, kill animals just to satisfy your tongue? You are EVIL, we all are. Humans are born with this bad propensities. So we are put in this Earth planet to suffer the miseries of birth, disease, old age, death, constant fear and anxiety. If we weren't evil we wouldn't be suffering. This planet is like a prison, we are caged here and the only way to get out is to recognize the Supreme Authority and to declare our dependency in Him, there is no other way.

In practically every religion, they talk about a certain evil. To say there is no evil would just be unrealistic.

What is evil to one is good to another and vice versa. So yes, it does exist, but differs among individuals.

Not as some sort of outside "entity" or energy. Evil is created by man. If we stop looking at it as something otherworldly, then maybe we can make some progress towards stopping it.
