I am trying to find out how much material needed to cover the ceiling with wedding drape from the center of the room. all dimensions I know are ceiling ht is 20 ft, wall height that will be used is 8 ft., and also room dimensions are 2 walls 50 ft x 2 walls 70.5 ft. thanks

Ok, so you know the height 8 ft. at the wall This is one measurement for the drape to reach the floor from one corner.
Next you will need the measurement from where the ceiling meets the wall to the height at the center 20 feet.

First, you will need the measurement straight from the corner. This is the square root of (50x50)+(70.5x70.5) = 86.43. For ease of use, we shall round htis to 86.5. Now this is only to the center, across the 8 foot level. We next need to add in the height to the 20 foot level. or sqr rt of (86.5x86.5)+(16x16)=87.9 which can be rounded to 88 Feet.

So, from the floor at one end of the room, to the top of the wall to the center of theroom is going to be 8 + 88 = 96. For all 4 Corners of the room, 96 x 4 = 384 total length. I would round this to 400 to be sure you had enough, and allow all the excess to 'puddle' at the base of each corner.
