My fiance and I have booked our honeymoon to Jamaica and will be going right after our wedding (getting married on the 22nd of September leaving the 24th). I am getting all my stuff booked in my maidan name. The question I have is we were told that I needed to bring our marriage license with? Does it need to be a certified copy or just the one we get after getting married?

Don't change your name yet. Keep your maiden name on your driver's license and passport. Also, bring your birth certificate, just in case.

I hope your not going to Sandals Montego Bay. My husband and I stayed there and it was very run down compared to the other Sandals. If you are, I would recommend switching to Sandals Negril.

In California you get your marriage licescence in the mail 3-4 weeks after you get married. Your ID will still have your maiden name on it when you go on your honeymoon. You don't actually take your husbands last name until you go to the social security office and change it. If your really worried about it, tell your fiance to book all this stuff, after all your a team. Right?

You were smart and booked everything in your maiden name. Therefore your license and passport are going to match your ticket and reservations. A copy of your marriage license is needed for people that book their flight in the new name--a name that is recognized by God yes, but not yet recognized by the government until you've changed your SS card.

So you will not need a copy of your marriage license.

Actually, you'll just travel under your maiden name. Make sure you also have a passport, because of new government regulations that took effect this past January for travel to Mexico, Carribean, Bahamas, etc. Your passport will be in your maiden name as well, and then you can change it when you return. Here's an article from theknot.com to help. Good luck!
