If you are looking for some less expensive dresses, try looking on Ebay --advanced search located in china. My friend did that. It's custom made to you measurements and they get every measurement (distance around your bicep, distance shoulder to wrist, wrist to elbow, shoulders to center of breast, everything!). The shipping is about $100 but she got the dress for about $40. Including shipping there are HUNDREDS for less than $200. And hers was absolutely GORGEOUS! and no alterations needed

Also, consider looking during prom season for a white dress instead of a "Wedding gown". Just the term wedding means there aren't going to be many cheaper gowns. Even Davids Bridal usually only has about 5 gowns (and very plain ones at that) on that rack.
