To all of you who say you don't want prayer in school SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU!
While you are telling your kids not to pray in school, I am telling mine to do nothing BUT pray. Pray that someone does not place a bomb at your school. Pray that some maniac does not come to your school and shoot you and anyone else. Pray that when you are standing at the bus stop some one does not try to kidnapp, rape or murder you. Pray that one of the school teachers or officials don't molest you. Pray some drug dealer does not try to sell you drugs, or that a gang member don't try to intice nor hurt you. Pray that the many tragic things that happen in school Don't happen to you.
I personally think it is a shame that you keep prayer out of school, but let the devil in school. You let children celebrate halloween, a day known as the devils day. Well I have to say to all those parents that feel like me, Chritians continue to cloth your children in the armor of God! Pray in School anyway!!!!!

When kids are faced with the horrific crimes against them, they need to pray in school. And while I want my kids to focus on their school work, the most important thing to me is that they arrrive home safe and unharmed. Parents while we must send our kids to school each day, we need to also send God right along with them. You God haters out there-- do what you want, But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Of course I do not try ro incite fear in my children, but everyday they go to school prayer goes right with them. While they are praying so am I. As for the comment about moving to a better area. I would like for you to remember what happened to those children in Columbine or remember the little innocent Amish girls that were killed. The area you live in is unimportant. Ungodly people are all around and unfortunately they prey on our innocent children.

Prayer in school is fine, if every child of every faith is allowed to do so. If little Amar is allowed to leave class and pray facing Mecca, if Dana is allowed to offer prayers to Vishnu, if is Susie who is Buddhist is allowed to meditate, Lars is allowed to offer prayers to Odin, and little Jenny is allowed to chant and pray to the Goddess.
The problem being that I doubt that you or many other Christians would tolerate any such thing happening in a school that you child attends. If you want your child to have a Christ centered education I would suggest sending them to a church run school. There are many around these days and quite a few of them are affordable, and there are always Catholic schools.
And just for the record, the people for whom Halloween is the devils day are a few Christians who've named it that. Halloween All Hallows Eve) is I think a Christian holiday set up to draw attention away from the Pagan celebration of Samhien, which has absolutely nothing to do with the devil (how do you worship something you don't believe exsists?). And no, I am not a believer in the idea that if you practice any religion other than Christianity or Judaism, or Islam that you are by default a devil worshiper. And I am a Christian by the way.

I answered a question very similar to this one, and I will repeat what I said at the end of my reply.
Say we do allow prayers in school. From which religious denomination shall we choose these prayers to come from? Christianity?? What about the students who do not believe in Christianity?? Should we force onto them those beliefs?? I don't think it's fair to those who do not believe in Christianity to be forced to pray to the Christian god. How would you feel if they decided to have Wiccan prayers in schools? You wouldn't appreciate having your children being forced to pray to the Wiccan Gods and Goddesses every day, seeing as Wicca and Witchcraft are against the Christian beliefs. THAT is why prayers shouldn't be allowed in schools. How will you accomidate all faiths???

Okay...
Seriously, don't criticise those with different views like that. Okay, so prayer in schools is a good thing. No need to start abusing those who don't think so.
Back to the issue at hand, I pray in school a lot. Pray that I can actually sit through the incredibly dull lessons, pray that the lunch queues won't be too long, pray I don't miss the train etc. And my religious friends pray too, and the atheists are fine with it all. We're forcing nothing on them, we are simply exercising out right to freedom of belief. It's not like we're blowing the place up or anything.

You should be arrested for child abuse!!!! I Can Not BELIEVE all the people agreeing with you. Have you any Idea what kind of message that is sending you growing child. What is the matter with you? Why wouldn't you teach them self defense , how to tell a teacher if they see someone suspicious in there school , How to report inappropriate behavior by a teacher , Teach them about the harm drugs can cause to themselves and those they love. Help him study and get good grades , maybe earn a scholarship. In stead of spending all your time praying , use your Internet and look up the history of Halloween. Spending your life worrying the world is going to blow up any minuet just has to suck.

The words of Jesus in the new testament book of Matthew 6 forbid praying in the street corners. The apostles had an upper room to pray in, and did not pray in the streets(see new testament, acts of the apostles 1).
If the bible is true, then it is the duty of a parent to protect their
children. It is not God's duty at all. God has no duties. He is a King, not a subject. Why should he at all do what he told parents to do themselves?
The promises of 'Ask and it shall be given you' were spoken by Jesus to his apostles, and were not directed to me. It would be
arrogant of me to say that it was.
Protecting your child is in fact your duty. God is not a vending
machine. I have learned this the hard way.
I'm a parent myself.

Separation of Church and State.
I believe in it wholeheartedly. In the good ol' U.S. we have the Freedom of Religion. What are your beliefs may not be the beliefs of others. Nobody has the right to force their religious beliefs on another, especially at school.
People's beliefs are between themselves and their God (or lack thereof). Everyone prays in their own way. If you feel your kids need to bother worrying about all the things you mentioned, then good for you...but that's a bit much for small children, don't you think? Why not teach your kids common sense and how to take care of themselves? You can balance that with your faith. Don't teach your kids that God will solve everything, because he can't...or the world would be a utopia.
I'll pray my way, you pray yours.

Pray your heart out sister, but the only thing that actaully works is ACTION! Make sure kids don't bring guns to school. Make sure teachers have background checks so they don't molest your kids. Make sure kids are educated enough not to use drugs in the first place. What is wrong with you? Are you going to huddle in the corner and pray instead of making something happen? The shame is all on you.

Because it's discrimination. It makes children who are in the religious minority or non-religious feel like outcasts. And no child should be made to feel that way in a school or be made to feel unAmerican simply because they don't worship your God.
I realize you guys think that you have the monopoly on prayer and that by putting “prayer back into school” that it’d only be the Christian variety. But you are wrong. If prayer was in school you’d have to be fair about it after all in America we are a richly diverse society, where a great many people believe a great many things.
So when your child comes home from school and tells about her morning meditation or prayer to Shiva or hymn to Inanna, that's not a problem, is it?
How would you react if instead of rallying around the flag poll to say a prayer to Jesus in the morning, it was a prayer to Thor?

It sounds like the spirit of fear has encompassed your heart.
Seperation of church and state means that the public tax supported school cannot enforce any single religion on any student. the school cannot force someone to pray or to attend religion classes. and as a Christian, I am thankful of that.
But kids CAN do things in the school ... if it is student lead and not adult lead, the kids can lead bible studies, prayer groups, etc in the school... they can take time to pray... if their school is telling them they cannot pray, then the school is violating their rights.
My prayer is that God gives you the spirit of peace when your kids are at school. that you have Joy in your day and that they do too. that even tho there are difficulties in this world, we are not OF this world, but of Christ, and God will protect our hearts even if our bodies suffer.
Give your kids confidence in themselves and their faith.... teach them to share with others and to pray for others... and to be Christ to others. That is how you get prayer into the school... you cannot force anyone into your way of thinking, but with God, His will can be done!

Praying is good and bad thing. The good thing is when you pray maybe you will be rescued from something happening. The bad thing is when you pray that your teacher or boss did'nt come because you didn't do the work that must be done.
