Get a copy of limewire from limewire.com and install. Then, do a search for microsoft office. You can then download a "legal" copy of microsoft office, which includes excel. While you are at it you can grab a "legal" copy of photoshop too. Failing that you could probably just do the project on a school computer

Are you sure you can't use a different spreadsheet program, like Microsoft Works (which normally comes with windows)? Most of the syntax is the same. Also, if you just want a way to view a spreadsheet and not necessarily make heavy edits to it, you can always download a free Excel viewer.

Use OpenOffice which is almost the same as Microsoft Office - and the best part is that it is sfae, legal and free:
http://download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/index.html
It will last forever and contains Open Spreadsheet which will work the same as Excel.
