I was recently clamped for parking on my own driveway. I parked where i always park, then went upstairs to drop off shopping and then came back 2 minutes later to get the rest to find a clamp on my wheel. I then phoned the number on the notice to find out what was going on simply to be told " You'll have to wait a couple of hours, no-ones on duty." Upon a clamp-man arriving and my questioning the clamp, the grant mitchell lookalike told me he could put more clamps on for every time i disputed it, thus multiplying the fine. My local council authority (waverly) then told me it wasn't their problem, despite the clamping contract being in their name, because they don't pay the clampers, the clampers simply keep the fines. Now im sorry, but i think this is a bit ridiculous. Why do these clampers seem to be a law unto themselves?

hi...just get or borrow a large grinder...then cut the damn thing off...this happened to me and i did just that...then i phoned them up and when the guy arrived i clamped 'his' van...cos i had bought a wheel clamp of my own.
he tried to get heavy with me but i had a few witnesses...after i had clamped him i phoned the police and they actually came and arrested him for 'false clamping' plus 'harrasment'...never had a problem after that...lol

My opinion is that wheel clamping is against international laws anyway. The person having their car clamped is being accused, convicted and penalised (fined) of a crime without any access to the right of a fair trial. Also they are effectively having access to their possesions (in this case the car) taken away from them by a pseudo-bailiff armed with a wheel clamp. Recent government legislation states that you can use reasonable force to protect your family and possessions, so if someone tried to clamp my car I would kick them in the nuts.

attempt conversing to "shopper Direct" (freephone huge variety or cyber web web site) or your close by trading criteria place of work. more than a number of those wheel clampers at the on the spot are not licenced and act illegally. Ask any clamper for his or her licence huge variety and make calls to substantiate this in the previous delivering any funds. if you're uncertain telephone the Police and tell them you imagine you've been illegally clamped and they ought to come out to you. if you're clamped illegaly and the clampers received't loose your automobile till you pay it is going to develop into extortion; a criminal offence.

You're leaving way too much out here. Was it your car that you parked in the driveway for a minute, or one you had borrowed that they would have no way of telling was authorized to park there? If there is a system using stickers, did you have yours showing, or did you figure you didn't need it for "just a minute."?
If it was your car, and properly marked as appropriate to park in that space, then I apologize on behalf of my fellow towers. If not, just follow the rules and it won't happen again.

I'm pretty sure that if they don't have authority to operate somewhere then you surely have a reason to appeal. Is your drive actually your drive?
And it is the councils' problem as the clamping company's contract is with your council.
Have a word with your local paper, i'm sure they'll be very interested.

I think you should seek advice form the citizens advice bureau! Your driveway is considered private property and thus they have no right to clamp your car! Is that not trespassing!!

Do you live in a house or apartments? Did you block someone else's path way? If not, that was totally unfair! Unbelivable
