Do unto others what you want them to do unto you. Give and you'll receive. If you give love even when you don't feel like,by faith, it will come. The love of god is shed abroad in your heart by the holy spirit. Just start doing loving things for your children and wife. Your love will grow.

As the Bible tells us: "GOD is love." 1 John 4:8&16. A child that grows up in an atmosphere of love grows up to appreciate love and show love naturally. I once lived near a man who was incapable of showing love even to his children. When I asked him the reason for his wickedness, he defended himself by saying that his actions reflected what he experienced as a child. His mother died at childbirth and it happened that he was brought up without love. He received no love and he grew up not knowing how to give or show love. He asked quite innocently: 'What is love?'

In a small way, one can say that love is the demonstration of kind feelings towards some one without the expectation of any reward.

There are different kinds of love.

The Greek language has four different words for four different kinds of love.

1 Agape : This is a sacrificial love and so the highest form of love. This kind of love causes us to do good for other people even when it hurts us. You don't even have to "like" a person to have this kind of love because it doesn't expect anything back from them.

2 Philos: Is a love of affinity. We "like" someone. We want them to be around us and enjoy their company.

3 Eros: Is usuauly connected with sexual love.

4. Sorge: Is the love of connection in a family. We get along with them just because we are a part of them.

If you have the first one, agape type of love, for your wife and children, then things can be secure and good. You don't have to consider the times when you don't "like" them. You can center your thoughts on what is good for them and that doing this good is a great purpose of your life.

What is "good for them" is not always pleasant for them. It is done so that they can be the best that they can be.

This the kind of love God has for us and that He wants us to have as we experience His love for us.

Love isn't something u can only see. It's something u feel for someone too. U will know it when it happens to u. And as for u doubting the love u should have for your children....i suggest consulting a counselor or someone to talk to. Better yet...try talking to your wife about your feelings instead of asking a bunch of strangers on here.
Good Luck to u and God bless.

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers."
(I John 3:16)
"...God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent his One and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but He loved us, and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
(I John 4:8-10)

You cannot give what you don't have.
You have to receive the love God has for you before you can give it to anyone else.
"For by grace are you saved, through faith, the gift comes from God. It is not a result of good works, so no one has anything to brag about." (Ephesians 2:8,9)
Ain't no theory - I know whereof I speak.

the highest kind of sentiment on feels for another.
The greeks used four gods to describe it, but i use a true living god to describe it.

Love ties all of the Christ like attributes.

This is why the lord taught his disciples in the new testament a lesson on the importance of love.

Love is like beauty.
Beauty seems to be different things to different people so nobody can say exactly what beauty is but still it makes itself so obvious when you find it somewhere.

love is spiritual as well as natural. love comes from within and physically too. love is when you feel an incredible emotion for someone especially your lovers. it's when you feel someone is just as important as yourself! eg when a loved one hurts themselves or is sick you feel what they're feeling so much that might even cry for them!
