PLEASE PEOPLE i am not mad or bitter.
i have only been 'by myself' for 3 years in the last 15, i am HAPPY.

I have no idea; I have been single for a little over two years. I think Valentine's day is just another day, but if you watch commercials and look in stores, there is almost as much hoopla as Christmas. Many retailers are very slow after Christmas, so it may just be a money-maker to fill the gaps until Easter and Mother's Day and such. I used to get depressed, simply because everyone around me was so happy and they felt sorry for me becasue I didn't get any flowers or some stupid teddy bear. Just remember February 15 will soon be here and it will be forgotten. Then you can go to the stores and buy the good chocalates that are 75% off.
The funny thing is, I live in PA and there is a bad winter storm brewing...9 inches of snow...I doubt there will be many flower deliveries or romantic dinners at restaurants.

It's natural to hate valentine's day when your single and alone, (speaking from experience here) and you see that other people have somone special in their lives to share that day with, it makes all us single folks hate or despise the day even more but if we all did have someone in our lives I'm sure we'd probably be just like the rest of everyone else buying all the candy and cards and going out to dinner. it seems like us single people look at the day alot differently like , What's the big deal, or why is everyone making such a deal out of one day that's not even a holiday, and to tell you the truth the only people that make such a big fuss over valentine's day is the people who actually have someone in there lives to share that day with it sucks but the best way to get thru the day is to try and act as if it's just another day.

I don't think you have to be single to realize valentine's day is stupid. I have a b/f and we both opposed to the whole idea. I don't want to be pressured into getting somebody something that they may or may not like or could possibly take it the wrong way. When I'm ready to say i love you i will tell you i don't need to have a dozen roses or a special day to do that.

The reason there is a big ol fuss about this stupid day is because people have a stigma that this is the one time of the year where they have to bust out the bears, chocolates, roses, etc to 'show' their love. Just a simple I love you can work, with maybe a card or something, but noooooooooo people go way overboard. it's sickening

I agree Valentines Day isn't all that important at least not to me it's just like any other day.. I never have been all Crazed over Valentines Day even if I have a bf at the time or not Valentines is NO BIG DEAL!!

Because people are gullible enough to buy into yet another Hallmark holiday. Why not just put some cash in an envelope and send it to Hallmark. Cut out the middleman.

Because Valentines Day is the best day ever (Almost a tie to Christmas)...I'm single and will always be single and I love Valentines Day. It's not a day to wallow in your singelism, or boredom, it's a time to be happy and look at the hearts and ballons and hearts and love..Love your friends
