I am 5'10'' , 168lb, and I wanted to lose about 10lb . I have adjusted my diet , which has been benefical so far , and I go for walks too , however I wanted to try cycling or jogging. How benefical is cycling to other forms of exercise eg. jogging , and how many calories would I burn from cycling and how much and how often would i have to do it ?

Cycling is a really good cardiovascular exercise so as a result, your WHOLE body gets a decent workout so it really helps you to lose weight. It's hard to say how many calories you'll burn because it all depends on the speed you're cycling, if you find it difficult, your height and weight; there are loads of factors. Best to consult a gym trainer or get an exercise bike that will tell you how many calories you're burning :-) Good luck!!!

The biggest advantage is you can cycle for long periods of time and burn lots of calories without getting tired. Running is more demanding but harder on your joints hard to maintain for extended lengths. I would cycle 45minutes 3-4 times a week and go twice that one day a week (weekends).

You can burn more calories jogging but it is bad on your back and knees.

Cycling for 45 minutes on a high resistance level burns about as many calories as 30 minutes of jogging.

And you don't get tired!
