What can u add to corn bread to make it taste sweet???

no sugar please!! my corn bread always taste like corn bread, but i don't want it to taste like it's from a box. i always add milk and eggs.

Try a little corn syrup or honey and for a more homemade appearance, add some frozen, but thawed, corn kernals to the mix. Canned can also be used.

Sweet Cornbread

My favorite corn bread. Sweet just the way I like it.



12 servings 45 min 10 min prep

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups milk
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/3 cup oil
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

Preheat oven to 350°F Grease 8-inch square baking pan.
Combine flour, honey, corn meal, baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Combine milk, eggs, oil and butter in small bowl and mix well. Add to flour mixture and stir just until blended.
Pour into baking pan. Bake for 35 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean.
For corn muffins, spoon batter into muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans.

Honey is the st thing to add as a swetner to cornbread, it goes so well together. Som ppl pour it over the top of it like a syrup and eat it that way.

use jiffy corn muffin mix. its pretty sweet. its a staple in my kitchen. and its not that expensive. something like 54 cents a box.... its the blue andwhite box usually found in with the cake mixes.
