I am not employed right now, so it makes it difficult for us to go out. Also I am not a licensed driver, so I can't go and see her when I want to. Finally, we only talk on the phone twice a week. How can I be a better boyfriend.

Try to make up for what you CAN'T do for her by focusing on what you CAN do for her.
You can call her often and talk to her about her day. Be interested and sincere.
Find ways to take her on inexpensive dates - even just hanging out at a coffee shop.
When in doubt, communicate. Let her know what's preventing you from being a "good boyfriend" and what you're doing to improve the situation. Maybe she has ideas.

Well, I don't know how old you are, so I can't say if not having your license is pathetic. But my advice to you is to just be there. That's all we really want; it's not about the money or the car, it's about how guys makes us feel. And by the way, just why the hell can't she drive over to see you? The problem might be that she's not willing to invest in your relationship, and if that's the case, break up with her. But on your end, call more. Have a friend take you to see her. Do whatever you can, starting with one hell of a valentine's present.

Ask her what she considers a good boyfriend, and if you can't cut it, then why even try to be her boyfriend? But, if you're older than 16 and in this predictament....hmmmm. Would you make good boyfriend material if you were a girl? She could also be trying to tell you that she doesn't want to get 'tied' down right now. She wants to go out and have fun, like with someone with a little cash and a car.

My girlfriend and I made a weblog (ie. livejournal, xanga, etc.) to which we could privately share together. A lot of communication is through there since we cannot talk on the phone much or see each other much. Give my idea a try, she'll most likely be happier with this as you seem literate enough to write some nice entries to make her smile. Of course, you'd look like a better and more committed boyfriend to her (given you continue writing entries for her.)

Get a job but not for her sake, do it for yourself.........as for the licence...a car doesn't really matter......as for only talking a couple of times a week on the phone is not good* Why can't you talk everyday on the phone or is it a long distance relationship. ??
I would suggest that you say to this girl....You're right....it's not what i wanted in this relationship so lets just finish it and i'll find someone who appreciates me for me* Tell her she's not a great g/friend either* It takes 2 to make it work and it seems one sided at the moment*
GOODLUCK*

well, talking twice a week just does not cut it......... she is going to feel neglected (which she should be at this point). you cant see her all the time cuz of a lack of transportation is really an excuse, if u cant drive, youre probably in school/suspended licensce off of some Driving under the influence charge. and as for a job? if that bothered you that much, you could always go out and find a job, they do exist.

her telling you that youre not a good boyfriend...makes HER a bad girlfriend..if she met you without a job..with out a license..she cant say anything to u.she has to accept u the way u are and she cant try to change u in any way...just the fact that ur trying is already making u nt only a better boyfriend but a better person.

1. Get a job.
2. Get a drivers' license.
3. Call her more often.

Did you really have to ask?
